Default 1978-81 gold/tan interior material- any options?

Hello out there, Am about to install my Tremec 5 speed and with that about done am now focusing on the next thing- the seats.
The stock seats are nice looking but, not comfortable enough and do not recline. So, it looks like I will be using 4th get buckets.
So, now, looking for interior material to give the upholsterer that would match halfway decent.
Has anyone upgraded to more modern seats and wanted to use original type material?
thanks for any input. I do not want to spend $100 a yard or more. But, there must be something about there that looks good and is comfy and durable (fabric ).
This is for my gold edition Y88
thanks

Steve, I have some of the original gold /tan checker board insert material if that is what you are looking for. Not sure of the condition, as it has been up in the rafters for about 25 years.

I have prob the last 7 yds of Lombardy material on the roll. It’s more than $100 a year though.
The closest repop I’ve seen, is the place up by port Huron mi. It’s not a bad Lombardy knock off.

If you have the last yards of original material, they should be used on original seats IMO. I just want to find something close that is comfy and looks good too. thanks

The Lombardy cloth has always been a challenge for aftermarket repop suppliers. Legendary has the Hobnail pattern pretty much spot on for 79-80, but even their Lombardy cloth is far too "fine," and not the dense, plush pile unique to the original material.

I'm very curious about this independent guy you're talking about in Huron, too.

Spent the other day going to various uph supply shopsin the Phoenix area and found something I like. Bought the remainder of what he had so, I can have the rear seats done as well and have a little extra. Hoping I will like his work.
I give him a 78 seat as a 'role model' to copy the style for the 4th gen seats.
It'll be so nice to have nicer seats in my TA soon

Unless there were to different ones-
A few short years back, I visited the huge upholstery set up north of Port Huron and bought some material from him. Him and his wife were super nice to me and it appeared they did not have a lot of visitors. I heard he retired and SMS bought him out. not sure of any details but, he had an amazing inventory.

am so pleased! yesterday I picked up my seats for my Y88 Trans Am and very happy with how they look- both the material I chose and the work to install them. I bought a part of 4th get seats and had him do the upholstery to look like 1978 seats. Now, I cannot wait to install them and enjoy them. very happy at this time
