'68 Endura Delete
Anyone know what's the latest built car that came with the endura delete? I've got a second week of May built car that has the chrome bumper. When I first got the car I read that there were 2,108 that came with the chrome bumper/endura delete. Being a young kid, i didn't think about the May build date and the fact that endura paint adhesion problems would have been early in production. Wondering if there's another member with a late Endura Delete?

Is it a known endura delete car or are you just saying that it had a chrome bumper when you acquired it? Seems pretty late to me considering the cars started rolling off the line in...what? July~August '67?
My car is also a second week of May build (Arlington,TX) and it came with endura.

I would think July was the last month for production. And, besides, there's no way to document what's the last.
FWIW, I never understood why people are so eager to figure out if theirs was the last built. |

I am not necessarily into it but if I had a "last car" that might change. Any way, things like this drive up price also if proven. So to some up I believe people like it for monitary reasons as well as uniqueness.

"Last Stingray" or "last 455 HO," perhaps, but not "last Endura-delete."

People want something that makes their car unique. Endura delete itself turns me off. Kind of like a bench seat GTO, rare but not cool/desirable.

I've got records of the following later dated Endura Delete 68 GTO's
06A - 06D - 07B All 3 of these were special paint/spring color = Carnival Red Tininjun68 is your car a special paint color ? a local guy here has a Solar Red/Endura Delete/ HO /4spd/ AC car built in either April or May. Code 674 on BHC is the Delete - in case anyone needs a quick refresh. i thought the delete number was much lower than 2,108 - but its been a while since i've read about it. |

For some reason, there's a number floating around of of Endura Delete cars with Ram Air - I think the number is 16 per HPP.

Paint code is ultra rare for 68.......Verdoro Green.
Didnt need to be the last. Reason I had brought up the late build is because after learning more about early production paint problems with Enduras, delete option rebates over the years, I had begun to think a late Endura delete wasn't very likely. Then I read a thread that included the dealer bulletin about Endura orders and documented late production Endura Delete Cars; sounded promising that mine could be real. Bottom line: gotta check the 674 block which I didn't know 20 years ago when I got the PHS. (Back when it was 30 or 35 bucks).

I have an enduro delete car that is in the most popular color of Verdoro Green with Ivy Gold interior. I know of about 15 of these cars but I have never looked at the build dates. Maybe I should start a registry of these cars. I've had my car now for 37 years, it is my first car and my High School car, that I dated my girlfriend, now wife in. My boys won't let me sell it now.

As I've mentioned in another thread a while back I worked for several years with an engineer who did his apprenticeship at Inland manufacturing for the 68 Endura bumper in 67.
He told me it was a disaster at the beginning due to air bubbles in the material at the paint surface (creating hollows). They scrapped thousands and assembled cars were sitting in assembly plant yards without front bumpers. He also told me that it was only because of this that the LeMans bumper initially became optional. I wonder what the earliest delete car was?

Confirmation of Endura Delete. Thanks for the information all.

That's pretty interesting to know that you could still get an Endura Delete car as late as May, and in a run of the mill color like VD Green. That indicates to me that it may have been possible to get an endura delete car throughout the model year. I mean, May is only a few weeks before the end of the run.

Bam! there mine is!. BVZ, when I first saw your post (before I read and clicked on your attachments) I wondered why the intel wasn't forwarded to my orange 68 thread, where I was looking for docs on other Orange 68's. So do you have pics, copies of the other two you mention?

i've got pics of both the other trim tags, but only have the Billing Card and pics of 1 of them. Both the others are Hardtops.
Got it all from one of the threads that involved your car. |

What's surprising, to me anyway, about the car in question here is that it came as an Endura Delete car with probably the most common paint color available.
