67 GTO door panel installation
Quick question,: Does the rear quarter panel door panels slide under the windlace or butt up flush to it? My legendary panels seem to thick to slide under the windlace.

The original rear panels went under the factory windlace.

The OE cards had enough vinyl to be folded over the pinch weld of the pillar and the lace slips on/over it. It can get a little puffy/wrinkled if the foam is too thick.
You might be able to carefully remove a thin layer of the foam for a better fit.

Thanks for the answers. This is what I remembered. In this case the panels are too thick to fit under the lace. Might have to see if I can compress the edges to reduce the thickness.

I had a similar issue. Legendary door cards and aftermarket wind lace. I thought the panels were too thick also but I thought the wind lace was the problem. I did make it work without any mods.

I was thinking that was a possibility. When I compare the new panels to the old they are a little thicker. Think the problem is a combination of both but I'm pretty sure I can get it to work.

I will be facing this exact situation pretty soon here with my '66. New door panels from Legendary and new windlace. Let us know how you make out in the end.

I believe I used a heat gun VERY carefully on the wind lace which allowed it to spread more easily.

I was thinking the same thing. I will try without heat first. Will apply heat (carefully) if needed.
