Default 69 Bird Clutch/Brake Pedal Options

When doing an auto to manual conversion on a '69 Firebird, what pedal options are currently available?

I know the 69 has a 1 year only bolt style retaining bracket. Outside of sourcing an OE clutch/brake pedal assembly, is a 1969 Camaro bracket and its corresponding pedals a direct replacement?

I'm currently unable to find any OE parts, so this is really the only thing at this point preventing me from ordering a transmission.

Make sure you're going with the one for a Firebird, Camaro is different. The reverse and clutch safety switch are unique to the Firebird, the Camaro one is NOT the same!

Thanks Scott, so it sounds like from your post here and your pictures, you're just missing the clutch pedal? You have a complete z-bar setup etc. I need the full thing of course.

Yeah this is what I'm trying to determine. There's some information that I've seen that seems to indicate you can use a 69 camaro bracket with their pedals.

Since my car is an auto by birth, I have zero of these components and they aren't in reproduction.

Default 69 4 speed stuff

Yes no clutch pedal

Pontiacs have the round circles on the metal pedals

The 2 69 brake pedals for the manual trans are picture d next to a 67-68 pedal for Camaro

See how the top pivot bracket changes for the 69
On the left side seems a little wider and reinforced

Ring me if you have any questions if you want

Scott
Thanks!!!

Scott, unfortunately without the clutch pedal, I wouldn't be interested. I'm going to have to change this whole thing over to a 69 camaro carrier and pedal set.

If you don't end up getting rid of these parts at the swap meet and come by a correct clutch pedal, I would absolutely be interested. Thank you!

Oh and just for information in this thread is somebody searches in the future, the 1969 Camaro carrier bracket is a direct fit for the 69 Firebird and will then allow you to use the 69 camaro clutch/brake pedal. Not proper for a concourse restoration of course, but for a driver, will work.

Default NPD

I just noticed that in the Firebird NPD catalog they show 1969 Brake and clutch pedal assembly for 79.99. Will that work with the Automatic support bracket I don't know?

Just looked at them, they are not correct. The use the wrong mounting system for the 69 Firebird pedal hanger assembly. The '69 bird uses a bolt through setup while the Camaro/Nova assembly uses a slide pin setup.

Any time you see this part and it is listed as fitting 69 Camaro/Firebird and 68-72 Nova, it is not the correct part for a 69 Firebird.

As mentioned, this set of pedal will work, if you also change to the 69 Camaro pedal hanger. They are not correct for a concourse or high value car restoration though.

Default Pedals

Pedals Look to be Camaro with the pivot pin rather than a pivot bolt

Good catch. Bought these many years ago and apparently they are Camaro. Listing is pulled. Thanks.
