Default 1967 GTO convt 1/4 glass chrome and weatherstrip repro Vs GM original

I bought the repro 1/4 glass weatherstrip (from Ames I think.) and the chrome portion is different at the bottom end...the rubber has no channel to slide into around the bottom curve for the last inch + so it sticks out like a dog's hind leg..are you supposed to just cut it off at the channel's end? The original's channel continues all the way to the bottom end so the rubber stays tucked in. Also the repros have a hole for a screw in the bottom of the chrome where the GM's don't. Anyone else have issues with these reproduction pieces? If so how did you get the rubber to stay with the chrome? Seems like it might be time to get the superglue out..
