Default Quadrajet 17058263 Restoration

Located the correct 17058263 Quadrajet for my early ‘79 SE Y84 W72 4-speed car. Carb needs restoration. Have seen a variety of firms or individuals listed on this forum - Quadrajet Performance (TX), SMI, Custom Rebuilt Carbs (NJ), many that are dated references.

Any recent experiences, recommendations for a stock restoration, best prices? Thanks so much.

Phil at Custom Carbs in Middlesex, NJ does a good job. They have been in business for many years and have done several Q-Jets for friends and even a Holley for a friend with a 1970 LT1 Corvette to pass NCRS judging.
They wet flow carbs when completed.
I believe the basic charge including re-coloring is around $350.00.

Helpful - thank you! That wet flow testing at Custom Carbs is a definite positive feature. Their work appears very thorough, though have not seen any pics of the “basic” level of restoration. Pricing also an advantage, as some restorers are upwards of $500-600 or more.

Any other recommendations would be helpful. Thanks so much.

Some of the folks (well atleast one) mentioned above are clueless when it comes time to recalibrate a Q-jet for a modified engine (anything but 100% stock engine).

I know SMI understands how to recalibrate a Q-jet for a performance orientated engine.
