What's the biggest tire you can run on the front of a 69 GTO? I want to "fill the wheelwell" with rubber on a 15x8" rim.

By biggest, I'm assuming that you mean widest (since you listed a 15x8 rim)??? Depending on your rim and it's backspacing, probably a 225/60R-15 (tread 7.2", diameter 26")or a 235/60R-15 (tread 8.0", diameter 26.1"). Beyond that and I'd bet that you are going to have some serious issues when you hit a bump at speed or while turning a corner (with a bump). And even the 235's might be too big. It really depends on the rims that you are using and the rim backspacing.

The following link might help to convert non-metric to metric sizes.

You might also ask the guys at the tire stores. Sometimes they are a wealth of info. Sometimes they are idiots. Luck of the draw.

Good luck!

I already run 235/60/15's with plenty of room. I'm wondering about 245's or 255's.
