Why does my alternator charge wire have power to it instead of going to it from the alternator. I went to hook it up to the alternator today with the key off and the terminal that connects to the alternator sparked. The key was off. I thought the wire was just to charge the battery. It is a one wire alternator but I am using it as a 3 wire for the light in the dash and I am using a H&M harness. The wire is backfeeding power for some reason. Where do I start?
