Default big brake spindles

Hi guys ,I'm trying to find out what kind of spindles I would need for 13" rotors on my 1969 GTO. I bought a complete kit from CPP and they are on back order(the spindles) Thank you for any help.

There are two basic types of brake kits for these cars. Kits designed for the factory style disc brake spindle and kits designed for c5/c6 hub assemblies.

If the kit you purchased comes with a pretty standard looking spindle and knuckle assembly, any stock or stock replacement spindle should work. The CPP spindle may be somewhat taller than factory, so if you wound up with a standard height spindle, you may want to opt for adding tall ball joints.

If your kit uses a hub style spindle, you'd need a spindle with a c5/c6 hub.

The main area of concern mixing and matching would likely be the ability to mount the disc backing plates. These aren't typically necessary, but do help with dusting on the wheels and keeps the back side of the rotors from corroding faster if the vehicle is driven in inclement weather.

No. Not a concern at all.

There are quite a few OEM applications that do not have them - my 1998 Z28 for one. I would like to hear a senior OEM brake engineer's take on this.

JLM's take on the ball joints are spot on.

Yeah I only mention because some people like to run them. I don't run them on my bird and have never had an issue.

It says in the listing they require disc spindles:

The $799 kit does not include them.

Drum spindles are different than disc spindles. If you purchased a disc kit without spindles and have drum brakes previously, you'll need OEM type disc spindles.
