Default Proportioning valve switch retainer

Dodgy pic installed but does anyone else have an original proportioning /combination valve where the switch is also held in place with a toothed locking retainer? I can't recall seeing one on other vehicles or in diagrams.

My '78 is original & no toothed retainer. The wire has a squeeze and release plastic plug.

Yes, it still uses the squeeze plug for switch. The switch itself changed a few times over the year, I don't know if this gained or lost the retainer.
