Default BAT; modified TATA

I just received notification of this car and I immediately recognized it.

BAT auction link

I immediately recognized it as a TATA that was on ebay within the last year or four;
The blue paint, '70-72 Formula front end, tasteful 73 side stripe all make it unique.

Does anyone know the story about this car?
When I first saw it I thought to myself - "Why would anyone do this to a 400/4spd TATA!?"
Do cars like this bounce around between dealers?
(The listing says that the current dealer acquired the car in the fall of 2021)

This car, pedigree aside, has ALOT going for it - I don't doubt it would be a great cruiser, and an absolute blast to rocket around in!

Funny, says it's powered by a 455SD but has Edelbrock D port heads on it. Looks nice but I think I would have put it back as a 10A car.

/\ I thought that too;
The first of two videos has the machinist who said that the block is a SD455 block.
IIRC the last time it was listed, nothing was mentioned about hte engine other than it being a SD455.

I like it. I would have modified the back end to a 1970-73 to complete the look. Agree that this type of mod should have been done to a lesser Trans Am, but still a fun, cool car to bomb around in.

I will be watching this carefully - I am thinking of tossing my 79 on BaT; what this one sell for should be a good indicator of what to forecast.

Have not seen it yet. Doesnt look too bad but for some reason to me the early cars look kinda funny with T tops. Personally I am a bit of a purist with these cars and dont see the idea of an early gen front end and a late gen rear For the money that was put into that conversion I am sure a 70-73 firebird could have been found and made into what this is. Being an owner of a 4sp tata I see one less, and hopefully the value of the survivors will go up by that much (in reality this will probably sell for more than it would have if in original state!).

/\ the thing is if this car gets into a situation where a repaint is deemed necessary, swapping it back to original wouldn't be that hard - all the important stuff (drivetrain aside) is still there... well the steering wheel is wrong, but that's small fries.
