A few more pics of her over the years and decades with my WW5. I've improved an already great car and never tire of driving it. Enjoy this car so much

Default 72 WW5 GTO

I have just purchased a 72 WW5 GTO. Sundance orange with black bench seats. Very few options. Car needs restoration which will take me a few years. I think the car was a 4 speed but is now an automatic. Please add car to your registry.

Welcome, Drew!

Thanks for the PHS of your WW5. Any pics of the car?

BTW, does appear to be a 4 speed originally?

Here are a couple pics. My name is Mark but no big deal. It needs body and floorboard work. There is a patched hole in the floorboard, so I do believe it is a 4 speed car. First thing I need to find is a hood latch and bracket, it's missing from the car. This is the car I always wanted, I think the 72 looks the best out of all GTOs. I also own a 69 GTO convertible that only needs a new paint job.

Welcome, Mark!

Are you going back with Sundance Orange?

Did you search for a build sheet in the car?

Welcome to the forum , Mark.
Congrats on finding that WW5 ! Great stroke of luck

You and John are right - $982 WW5 option price was for the "Later" 4 speed cars.
They picked a great color and got the best option available .
Cool Car

Will get yours listed in with the group when I can do another update.
Yours makes the total now 34 WW5 cars documented.
19 with Automatic - 15 with 4 speed
Thank you for joining and sharing your car with us.

What state are you located in ?

I did search under the rear seat which I think is original but nothing there. Any other place to look? It will be painted Sundance orange but alot of work to get to that point. I am in Wisconsin and the car is a Michigan car, which is where I purchased it so the floors are bad. Thanks for the support, the car needs alot of work but the seller included a 455 block, 4 speed trans and 7f6 heads so I have a good start already.

Welcome Mark! In noting your WW5 GTO "doesn't have a lot of options", have to take into consideration, that a lot of cool options were included when the dealer clicked off the WW5 option.

Years ago when hauling home '70-72 Fremont builds, I often found a build sheet taped underneath the original package tray. More so on fairly original cars with the base AM radio & no rear seat speaker. Of course, once the metal package tray area was hacked for a pair of 6x9's, build sheet often disappeared. Other good location to ck in a Fremont build is taped to top of the gas tank.

On Lakewood GA builds, often a copy behind the drivers side door panel. This holds true for both A-body's & the tons of '71 & 72 GP's that rolled out of the Lakewood assembly plant.

My Fremont build 71GTO had one on top of the gas tank and one under the back seat, which was in excellent condition.

I am planning to purchase a window sticker for my WW5. Does PHS or Mike Noun do a better job with the description in the window sticker? The costs are about the same but it looks like Mike has done more research based on production locations. Your comments are welcome.

Mark, Mike Noun does the best window stickers by far.

Here is a link for a 1972 GTO WW5 for sale in Wisconsin. Automatic car in Sundance orange but I would check PHS documents to be sure. Just saw it on Facebook, it has a good start for restoration but is all torn apart and needs to be put back together. Hopefully the link works.

I was just going to list that car on this post. Here's the craigslist ad for the same car.

Except for not having A/C that's a helluva nicely optioned WW5 car.

Note the power seat, tilt column, and stereo radio ...
Prolly not a brass hat car because of the lack of A/C, and no handwriiten notes on the invoice.

Also note that a Starlight Black '72 GTO, or any T41 LeMANS, would have been delivered with a Cameo White endura.

Looks to be very nicely restored, it even retains the correct KR Rally IIs. They're usually long gone.

Lloyd, good seeing you're still hanging out here. Dantip posted the build sheet earlier (so it's known), but BAT should have larger pictures.

Also I checked all my Pontiac docs and I have no previous records on that car. I've now added that invoice to my records.

Thanks for posting that, Mike.

Hey Mike. It's good to hear from you, buddy!

Unfortunately my poor health and lots of obligations keeps me off the forums most of the time, but as you know the WW5s are near and dear to me, LOL! I try to keep up with a few threads here, as I have the time.

Thanks for the heads up to Dantip's post. I grabbed that build sheet and added it to my records.

Take care, all of you guys!

Thanks for the Heads Up , Guys ! Always !

We have this on the list from numerous years ago when it was offered for sale on another GTO forum website.
I don't remember what all documents we sourced at that time.
But I remember declaring it to be the Top Dog WW5 4spd car - as built.

The color change has driven some railroad stakes in its standing value.
A couple PY members have done, or contracted, in-person inspections on it .
It needs corrections in areas besides the paint.
The resto was long ago and they sorta milked him the whole way.
