According to the article in Hemmings this month the 70 grain pattern is unique

Doesn't sound like a good Florida option.

I heard on one that got wavy in a 70 Firebird car owned by a guy near me. I have had my Classic Industries Dash in my 75 Formula for 4 or 5 years now. I drove the car as my only daily driver until a few months ago. In the summer here it sat in 100+ heat a few times, and 80+ heat many times all day while I am in the office without a car cover on it or a dash pad. Sometimes I would forget to cover it or whatever.. My dash has held up without waves or damage. It still looks great. May have something to do with the way it is screwed in or not... I dont know.

I had a reproduction dash from the batch that was sold in 2011 or 2012. It warped pretty bad the first time the car was out in the sun. Someone suggested that I should not have tightened the screws along the top edge.

Gator, what have you done to remedy? Mine warped but when it cooled it went back flat. It was an early run dash as well.

Mine stayed that way.

Well as usual this shows that a good original is worth every penny

Unfortunately most originals are warped on top as well.

True, but there are other issues with the reproduction, at least the one I used (e.g., gaps between the dash and A pillars, and also the kick panels) that make me wish I had used an original in my TA. Wonder if the ones from the newer run have improved in these areas?

I've heard about the other issues the repros have. What brand (s) are you using?

Arn't they all the same brand? OER

My original isn't warped but man it sure does have a healthy crack right in the center of it. Bummer too cause not only is the radio hole super nice, but it was a sandlewood one. Don't suppose there is a crack fix that is worth the attempt?

I thought there were a couple of different producers. Maybe all of the suppliers are carrying the same brand. Something to look into.
Have not heard anything back from AL Knoch yet. |

They're expensive, but I hear they do nice work.

Craig, you're lucky your dash is black. They hold up much better than the coloreds.

Heard from Al Knoch. Said they'll be starting the new Firebird dashes in about two months -- working on GTO dashes right now.
