Default 1967 GTO smog pump installation

I removed all the smog pump equipment of my '67 years back, luckily saved it all. I now want to put it back on but I'm at a loss to remember how it all goes back together onto the head..does anyone have a few photos of an installed pump and hoses and the valves etc to remind how to get it done? The carbon vanes are long gone out of the pump so it won't actually be working but it will look like it is. Thanks for any advice.

Here are some 67 assembly drawings and the 67 Service Manual's figures from the Emission Control Systems chapter 6D-5 to help get started. I'll get photo's tomorrow when the sun comes up.

Of course, don't forget the Air Injection Sticker that was placed on passenger side of the core support. I've seen a few color variations. This one is from November '66, Fremont plant.

Here are a couple more with close-ups of the air pump brackets and the vacuum line for the gulp valve.

Thanks again.. I didn't realize that you have an A/C car, it looks like a couple of the brackets might be different from my non-air. I'm going to lay it all out tomorrow and figure out what's what. The schematic you sent should be very helpful. Jim.

Did you get the PM I sent?

jhfaust,

This is good news. Reinstalling that A.I.R. system back on the car it came with.

Not many Smog GTO’s around to view after 55 years.

It looks like you have a good source down south to help get it right.

Good luck.

gto4ben,

Great up-close detail photos of the A.I.R system on a ‘67 GTO with Air Condition.
From these photos showing the engine paint, it seems you have a “Factory” never opened 400 ?
What is the mileage on your ‘67 ?

Power Steering.
Power Disc Brakes.
Engine paint looks factory.

Your car shows an early build (possible first 1/4+ build) ?

Small hood hinges.
First design stainless steel fuel lines from pump to carb.

I’d love to see several photos of the intersection of fuel lines around the fuel filter.
Plus it looks to have the (not user friendly) bracket to secure that filter.

Would you be willing to do a thread on your car (exterior, interior, engine bay)?

Again, great photos for reference.

Thanks, Chris.

60sstuff,
Thanks for the complements. Yes, the never rebuilt power train is the numbers matching original with the odometer showing 44980.5 miles. I'm uncertain if it's more than that because the motor doesn't burn oil, the transmission shifts great, and the original owner used it to only tow a boat. I purchased it in 1990 and am the second owner. It was built 2nd week November 1966 in Fremont. I may do a specific thread on it when time permits.

jhfaust,
Should you someday decide to get your A.I.R. fully functional, I just want to say that the factory system really does work. I've attached some measurements I made with my Atlas 2 gas Emissions Analyzer. If they ever judge your car for lowest emissions for a 1967 vehicle, you'll have the bragging rights.

Thank you for the reply!

Has the timing set (Teflon teeth, chain) been replaced ?

That mileage is typically the “concern time” on these cars.

Is this Fremont car an unrestored Survivor ?

Thanks.

Thanks for the concern. Timing set was replaced in 2017. The car was repainted in 2019.

Default Smog pump install

Thanks Grant, they would be good to see...the A/C cars use different brackets etc so it would be handy to get a look at a non-air car's setup.

Default Smog pump pics.

Thanks to the kind folks who uploaded the photos of the smog pump gear, no excuse now but to get it back on the car. I'll post a couple of photos when it's all done.
