Default Anyone Running 325/50/15 Street Drag Tires?

I'm on 295/55/15 MTSS tires, rolled lip and 6" BS.
While I like them, they're not always hooking up like the Drag R tires I've heard about. Unfortunately the R tire doesn't currently come in that size.

There's a MT 325/50/15 R street drag tire, the wider section width and R compound should definitely hook better on the street even without a burn out beforehand on my combo.

Anyone running this size, pics, comments?

Bump

Anyone with a 68 or 69 GTO rolling on 325/50/15 MT tires?

It looks like I've got 1/2" towards the frame with the current wheel spacing and then the extra 1/2" I'll need towards the offset will barely clear the quarter lip and might be an issue if there's 2 people in the back seat unless I Jack up the rear 1". Thanks

Closest size to that we've run are the 295-65/15's (drag radial) which are 30" tall and 12" section width. So 2" taller and 1" narrower than what you're looking at.
They worked perfectly fine on dad's 69 GTO.

Found out today from MT the 325/50/15 Street SS is no longer available, only Street R in 325/50/15 is.

295/55/15 = 12.5" section width, 28"
325/50/15 = 13.5" section width, 28"

They also said while Street SS and Street R tread compound are the same the belts under the tread are not. There are Steel belts in SS and Nylon in Street R so the R grab better due to contact patch expansion under load and there's less grooves in the R so there's technically more actual tread area touching.

We've used the SS for years and excellent results. Never found the need to try the R or the pro bracket radials. But if you're looking for that particular size options are limited. We went back to the 275 years ago anyway.

Ya I'm spinning out the hole on MTSS 295/55/15 at 20psi.

Didn't do the double adjustable front coil over shocks and I'm regretting it, I'm sure that's my main issue since I've got rear QA1 at a pretty soft setting and nice adjustable rear control arm setups.

Maybe just some minor suspension tweaks would get you there...???

The 275's dead hook for us on a decent track. Dad's Goat has gone 1.40's 60 foot time on the 275's with a nice wheelie and I think it has a pinch more in it. He's making 724hp and 764tq. Just a real simple stock type suspension setup with adjustable shocks, and pretty heavy too at 4120 lbs.

I don't make near the power with mine but run upper 1.50's in the 60 with the same tire and same suspension setup.

This is street spinning, no hot tires or track prep etc so I've gotta get 600tq to stick better in that context.

I'm pretty sure my main issue is the front won't come up fast and far then stay up for better transfer.

If I can't get 325 Rs with double adjustable coilovers to hook better I'm either a moron or its raining. LOL

Yeah on the street it's a bit of a different deal. We don't have much issue on the street with the 275ss. In fact I'd say dad's car works better than mine and he has more power. Like any roadway if you get a dirty road not much helps in that regard but most of the time with the blacktop hot and just driving around the tires are warm enough to work decently. Might take very minimal finesse with the throttle. The real trick with a radial tire is they need a bunch of instant center and separation to push them into the ground to make them work.

Got a picture of my current tire 295/55/15 (11.9 width) with my wheel combo and there's no room for any wider going in towards the frame. Possible offset room but that's where I'll rub even with rolled quarters if the cars as low a it is in the rear and someone sits back there.

Looks like Hoosier DR2 295/55/15 (12.3 width) and I'll probably need to add a 1/8" spacer since these are a tad wider.
