I was wondering what the "post" stands for and only found a discussion about hardtop/coupe. What is the exact difference between the coupe and the post coupe? What cars were built more often?

Hi Daniel and welcome to the Forums.

Actually there is a Sport Coupe, which has a "post" (center vertical window frames connected to the door, 1/4 panel, and roof) separating the side and rear 1/4 windows even when the windows are down (like my 66 GTO below), AND there is a Hardtop that has one continous opening on the side when the windows are down. The Sport Coupes are more rare as they were less popular sellers than the Hardtops and built in signifigantly smaller numbers, but popular with the dragracers as they are slightly lighter and more rigid. Generally, Coupes command lower prices than the more popular Hardtops just like they did when they were new.
