Default '65 GTO FAN

I'm in the process of changing the fan on my '65 GTO. I've been running a non-shrouded 18" Flexlite (blue center) fan on this car since the '80s. It's a stock tripower car, with the Harrison 4 row radiator. No cooling problems, just a NOISY fan....sounds like a garbage truck. I bought a nice 19" 7 blade Pontiac fan off the 'net, but the clutch is weak. I plan on replacing the clutch and installing the shroud. (not on the car, but I've had one for years I pulled off of an AC equipped '65 Lemans) My question: should I run a 2747 Hayden unit, or the Cadillac 2731 unit with the longer shaft?? It's a '65 389 engine, 8 bolt water pump, etc. I've searched the threads, and I've been all over on-line, and am not sure which clutch would be best. Does the 2731 unit work with the older 389 pump? I know the later pumps on the 400's were a little shorter. Thanks!
Jeff
