there is also a y4 on block usually there is a year cast in block but i cant find one

Behind the oil galley plug, near the distributor, there will be a four diget date code. A letter and three numbers. The Y4 was a 455 in '72,'74, &'76. It was a 400 in '73 &'77. Post that date code and someone will tell you what year of car it was built for.

It's a 1977 engine,probably out of a Bonneville.

The 7 in the 27 is the year.
The P is the factory.

You could send this number to PHS and find out what the car was.

'77 Y4 would be a 400, 180hp`. Used in eiher the A body or G body.
