Default 1964 GTO Baltimore car decoded..THANKS PY Forum!

Newbie Here....Found this excellent community searching the web for information on a newly acquired, baltimore built GTO.. PHS was only able to offer up basic information about it. A quick google search led me here and after reading through several older threads I've got most of my sheet decoded with the information posted by John V. and others on this forum.. I was kinda bummed about the lack of info i received from PHS but this place filled in most of the blanks.. THANKS GUYS!

I will post what i've got so far..I do have one or two codes that are unclear and a few that will confirm what was previously posted..

As a fellow '64 GTO owner, welcome to the forum.

I bought mine for $600.00 back in 1992 - pre internet - which made learning, finding parts and just about everything much harder than it is today.

This site is an excellent source of information and most members will be interested in learning more about you and your car.

Photos are required....

Default 64 GTO Baltimore

Hi John V, thank you for the great info you provided for Baltimore codes..I did purchase the 64 convertible on BAT ..12/21 that you aka GTO John commented on.. since purchasing the car I have added front disc brakes, front and rear sway bars, quick steering box, aluminum radiator, a Pypes dual exhaust, all new interior chrome hardware, and a tripower carb set up. My instrument gauges are showing rust ( tach was replaced earlier) ..I am considering a switch to Dakota replacement gauges .. do you have an opinion regarding switching my custom wheel covers to Rallye type wheels which I know did not come out until 65..finally is there anyway to replace the gray plate covering the heating controls..I am hesitant to repaint it..Thanks for your advice!! Here’s some pictures of my GTO. It’s a driver, not a show car. Heavily raced until the early 70’s. I just acquired it from a guy who had it for 50 Years! He bought it from His brother who owned it before 1972. 389 4spd 3:23 safety track (now has 4:11s) Yorktown blue black interior.

Great looking car. I’ve always liked that color on them too. Congrats. I wish mine looked that good.

Here’s my shipping order for my Gto. I have some notes scribbled on the boxes that I was able to decipher with the information on this site. If anyone can add or correct me on this, I would greatly appreciate it!
It’s a February 13th date. Built in Baltimore.
Zone and dealer I was unable to find.
Color FF Yorktown Blue. The third “F” is for color of wheels (??)
303 4 speed
31d 389-4bbl
321 safe-t-track
341???
350???
366 white lined tires
44c radio
455 dual speed wipers
472 clock
517 seat belt delete
62a center console
RB. 4 speed wide ratio
78. Engine
3k 3:23 rear axle code
A 3:23 speed o gear
F manual transmission wiring harness
G non ac engine harness
8 non ac instrument cluster
u 37 amp alt w/ps
NK non ac rad hoses.

My car was owned by the same family for over 50 years. It hasn’t passed through a bunch of owners so it’s pretty correct. The Gto does have reverse lights which may be the 34 or 35 options I don’t have figured out yet.. Also, I don’t know what wheel covers it would have had.

Like I said this is the information I came up with reading the threads on Kansas City/ Baltimore assembly plants. I’m no expert! If anyone has a correction or something to add please reply!

I guess if I read all of your list, I'd have seen you don't know.

Did you add the power brakes?

No, I don't know the dealer who sold it new..Wish i did! the brothers that had the car since 68 were not the original owners..It was located in Northern NJ if that helps..

The previous owner just added the power disc brakes..It was originally drum brakes.

I do NOT have confirmation, but a likely dealer is Gardner Motors Inc, 27 Morristown Rd in Bernardsville NJ. Gardner fits '29 104' neatly (alphabetically) on my list, and they were in business from '54 at least thru 69.

Could not find any corroboration online.

So, the alternator/ps brackets is correct for my car? I thought it might be later parts added on at some point. ....

That is not the correct set up.
But I have a complete 2-groove-pulley Alternator & Pwr Str set up still on a 64 Tempest parts car.
Both accessories have 2 belt grooves on their pullies and both mount on the driver side
Engine still in car and all is complete.
You can send me a PM if you have interest in buying the parts.

I think they just meant that your 2 groove power steering pump looked correct for your production date.
Pontiac never put the alternator on passenger side of their V8 engines.

350???

341 - Power Steering
350 - according to John V's article, it is a zero usually. (for tires along with box 36)
