Does anyone know if the "PONTIAC" emblem on the trunk lid for a 1970
LeMans Sport was used on any other year or model? I've checked all the
well known after market sources and used parts sources. No luck. It's
about 13" long, one piece, and underlined. If I knew it was used on other
years or models I may have more luck with my search.
Thanks,
Steve

I beleive all 70-72 Lemans' had them, except Luxury Lemans. Don't forget the four-doors either.

1970 was different, 71 &72 had no underline, and the total length of the word "pontiac" was longer on some models

I have a 72 Lemans Sport and mine is all one piece there is a line that goes between each letter connecting each like it's underlined. I definatly have the original emblem. That is a strange thing about The LeMans there are way to many differences between each car. Taillights, Emblems, Header panels (fiberglass and steel three bolts and five bolts holding it to the radiator support) Interior pieces and Grills.
Of all the LeMans that I have seen I haven't seen two cars alike.

It's been a long winter. That emblem is actually 20" long not 13". The cruise season is here and I have 4 holes in my trunk lid where that emblem should go. I'm not big into the "correct" way my car should look. I just want to fill those holes. Anything close to that will do. Any suggestions?

The nameplates I have measure about 13" long and have the underline. I don't know if the hole spacing would be the same as the 20" version but below are my low-precision, un-exact measurements from post to post:

Left to right on decklid - 4-3/16", 2-7/8", 3"

If these measurements match your decklid holes (probably not) you can use the shorter nameplate.

Thanks Abets but I think I 'm stuck using the long emblem. The outside holes are 17" apart, the inside are 6" apart. I'm seriously considering filling the holes and going without it. No one seems to have it and even if I do come across one, it will be so expensive I'll have to sell the car to pay for it.

Believe I have one of those '70 "long style" Pontiac decklid emblems on a decklid sealing up '70 LeMans solid bodyshell. Also have one on solid straight decklid. Might drop me an e-mail mid next week, & I should be able to see daylight by then, & can ck condition of both.

The part # is 7775303. It measures exactly 20" long and has 4 posts. Get back to me if its something anyone might want to sell.

One more thing. The only thing wrong with the emblem I have is the T is missing. If anyone has an emblem that is damaged I could still probably use the T off of it and make work on mine.
Thanks

I've got 2 of the emblems you are looking for. The long ones with the 4 studs. I even have all of the backing nuts, but I guess you already have those. One is better than the other, but neither is perfect. Structurely they are both sound, but there is the usual pock marks that pop up. Maybe it could be buffed? One of them looks pretty good from 5ft away. I think they could both easily be rechromed. Let me know if your interested. I could probably figure out a way to send you some pictures.

Thanks,
Jason

Thats one hard emblem to find. Just over a year ago I found one NOS for my own LeMans. I've owned my 70 Lemans for almost 10 years now so it's like a needle in a hey stack to find one brand new. Your best bet is to find the best used one you can find. Good Luck

Here's a NOS unit for sale on eBay, ending on May-23-02 19:32:26 PDT. Not perfect but close.

I bought a NOS item on eBay a few weeks ago, very nice. These parts are rare but can be found if you are willing to cough up the dough.

Good luck and happy hunting.
