Default "70 GTO Hvac

I have original evaporator and condenser coils plus hoses. The txv is on the evap inlet. I don't have the compressor and am wondering if I should replace the hoses. Since this will be a big project and R12 was original refrigerant and should or has to be replaced with R134, any thoughts on replacing and installing new or buy retro and go from there?
