Rod Bearing install
So I have question, I really don't see what difference it would make but,....when using a half set of STD and .001 bearing to get the clearance right does it matter if the .001 bearing goes in the rod end or the cap?

It’s best to put the under bearing in the cap.
If the Rod’s are loaded enough to pinch in the cap then that’s the side you want the extra clearance to be.

It doesn't matter. Steve's logic makes sense but that would mean every other engine we do that with is wrong...lol
But then again Steve's logic may be wrong, you didn't say if you have a plus or minus .001 bearing |

At .0005 difference on one bearing half I can't see it making much difference either way. I have only done this once.
