Angry "nos" pieces

haven't got on here recently. was just on ebay, and, is anybody else bothered when someone repops a piece and advertises it as "nos"? that is misclassifying a part to me. sorry if I upset anybody but it is what it is. if it wasn't made by gm then to me it's not a nos piece. list it as a repop. had to vent, thanks for reading........

I agree. When GM Restoration Parts started making their line of musclecar parts, guys on ebay were selling them as NOS.

The boxes or packages had BAR CODEs on them!

They sold a lot, until people caught on.

It's not misclassification - it's outright fraud.

Does this one look new or NOS?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-6...Q5fAccessories

Trim Parts (GM Resto) carries the same one (NEW) for $6.6o # 4551

http://www.trimparts.com/Pages/Resul...&ProductCat=55

I bought a fair amount of items from TRIM PARTS over the years and see the same boxes/parts on ebay listed as NOS.
Door Handles, Washer Bottles, Lens, Radio Bezels and more.

I have also noticed this practice.

I guess if you put a question mark behind it,it makes it alright.

That's one reason people question you so much when you really do have a NOS part. They don't know who to believe.

There was one guy who made a killing selling GM Restoration parts as NOS.

He had about 8-10 pages on ebay and during the heyday of the market was raking it in.

You would think people would wonder how someone had 89 sets of NOS DOOR HANDLES?

Probably what happened, as people became wise to the practice.

Everything had new Bar codes and Blue color packaging, not the older Aqua Color or Gold.

I hated to see people paying five times what the item cost NEW from GM through Trim Parts or GM Resto Parts.

The most irritating problem is doing a NOS search and getting every repop Chevelle part on the market listed as a GTO part. And as always Buyer Beware, if you cant get a part number from the seller its most likely still available although its very generic.

Cool Makes you wonder...

when a part is pictures with an original box...which is NOT included in the sale! A red flag for sure. Ron
