I have a question about KRE's new cam plate...Why does it not have a oiling hole in it for the timing chain? Is there enough "spash" from other areas to keep the chain oiled? Just wondering if anybody knows. and also what is the torque spec on the cam bolt? I can not remember to save my life. Thanks

K now I am confused, what are you trying to say? Are you saying that it should have a hole in it or are you talking about the torque specs?

Thats a good question, I bought the same thrust plate from KRE with no hole? Also anyone used the washer that eliminates the fuel pump thingy.

The hole should be there (fed by a "trough" in the back of the plate) to properly lube everything.

I bought the washer to eliminate the fuel pump eccentric, and the washer seems to work good, so no problems with that.

You can get the thrust plate with the trough and oil spurt hole from Paul Spotts. http://www.spottsperformance.com click on Whats New. I have one from Kauffmans without the spurt hole but i don't know if i will use it.

I just paid 25 bucks for this thrustplate, that really bites. KRE must use some of these thrustplates in the engines they build. I wonder why there isn't a oilhole in the plate for oiling?

I posted on KRE's board asking this question, so far only one person has replied and he said that he did talk to Jeff about not having a hole in the plate and Jeff told him not to worry that there was plenty of oil up front for the chain. He also said that he has ran the new plate for 8 months so far and no problems. So this makes me feel a little better. Later

Chad Dammen

I did also send Jeff a e-mail about it so I guess I will see what he has to say, this way I can hear it right from the designer

I use........and sell, the Indian Adventure plates with "NO" problems.

Yes, there is a reason for the hole.

Probably easier to drill a small hole in one of the front oil gallery plugs instead, much softer than the plate. I would think there would be plenty of oil making it's way up there anyhow. Even so I drill a small hole in one of the front plugs on all Pontiac engines prepared here....Cliff

I received a e-mail back from Jeff at KRE and he said that it is fine there is plenty of oil up there. I have also receive numerous other e-mails from other people that have used it with no problems, so I guess I am going to take my chance with it since the engine is back together and in the car. I would also feel better if there was a hole in it but I guess if you do not try anything new you will never know. Later
