Default Sprint stripe help (details needed w/ photos).

Can someone provide accurate photos and dimensions of the Sprint stripes for a 67 Lemans. I would like to have a local shop make me some stripes for my car and would appreciate the dimensions, thicknesses, length and placement, etc.. How tall are the “SPRINT” letters, how wide is each individual letter, how long is the script. All the information that I can provide to a local sign shop to cut them in house and if photos are available that I can forward on or print off would be a great help as well. I am aware that I can buy reproductions but I am considering something a little different than stock but want them to appear original.

Thank You.

I thought there was info on Sprint stripe placement in the 1967 LeMams/GTO Tempest Assembly manual. I'll see if I can find it.

Cammer, If you are attending the Norwalk Nationals and have some white Sprint stripes I would not mind picking a set up from you. If they are enhanced as we discussed via PM that's fine, if not that's fine as well. I would just like to install somehting to enhance the flanks of the car. If you would like to see the color of the car I can also send you a few photos. The car is factory Champaign exterior w/ Gold interior but the exteriors new paint code was mis matched by the paint store and applied (not by me). It is more very lite metalic tan / beige than anything through my eyes. Factory stripe colors were black so I was thinking that with the current paint scheme the white might look classier, subtle and a nice transition. Would sure like your opinion on Sprint stripes, as well as anyone else reading this. So gentleman please offer your advice on some Sprint stripe colors for my little LeMans. I am not set in stone for originality style stripes if we can come up with a nice twist to them and Cammer can design / cut them. So chime in everyone !

I have attached a close up of the current paint, may need to enlarge for a better view to see the slight metalic. It looks really "Grandpa" and although I am old enough to be one I am holding on tightly to my youth. If you would like to see the whole car please send me your email address and I will send along several views. Thank's everyone for your input.

Tim,

I, for one, would like to see a side shot before I offer an opinion.
Remember, just an opinion.

I would love to go to Norwalk but unless I can tag along with someone going that close to me,I wont be.
I dont stock stripes anymore. They are made to order
I used to but sales have slowed down so its not practical.
Keeping the material fresh is best.Paint must be cured before applying

Please PM me an email address and I will forward along several to you. Thank You for your thought's & opinion Charles.

Here is what Cammer and I have discussed.

I was thinking of White stripes that are reflective at night very much like the GTO "Eye Brows" on Judge vehicles. I was also thinking of some very subtle "ghost like" checker flagging within the stripes (and lettering of the word "SPRINT") and have the checker flag black squares become more pronounced as the stripes continue along the sides towards the rear quarters. the black squares of the checker flagging would not be very noticabole at all near the front fender but gradually become more pronounced as they go back, maybe have the black checkering start at the the last couple letters of the word "Sprint", maybe start at the "i", "n" but before the "t". The stripes would remain factory style but with the checker flagging within the stripes themselves. It would be nice to have the checkering kind of "burry" as if the checker flags / stripes were waving, moving / showing motion. In my head it is very clear what I am envisioning but maybe not so much here in print.

I have made multiple attempts to attach a side view photo but I keep getting a failure notice. I can send you them via email if you wish.

Tim,
Remember, it's your car but, if it were mine with the color it is, I'd go with black Sprint stripes.
Always thought they looked "cool" with those.

I can see the flaws as you mention, but all in all, a VERY nice car!
I do believe I'd just drive it and enjoy while I thought about it harder. You'd be surprised how many times I've done that with mine and decided to stay as original as possible.

Loaded some pics for you.

It's about time we got to see her Looks good.
I would have loved to see some before & after shots.

IMO Black would pop far better then white on the color, but hey you know what they say about opinions

Just for the heck of it below are some Factory photos showing '67 design ideas for "Sprint" stripping.

Also remember you could order your Sprint "STRIPE DELETE"
