The Hockey Hanson Brothers in Slap Shot
C. Schmidt's of Philadelphia, and Sons, the mxxster beer company became a conglomerate by "buying out" all the other family breweries: Adam Scheidt's Valley Forge-Rams Head, Ortliebs, Esslinger, Kaiers, Schaeffer, Stroh's, Reading, Bergheim, Lion/Stegmaiers, Gibbons, Rheingold, Old English 800, Horlacher, Duke/Duquense, Carling's Red Cap Ale, the Busch Bavarian variety , and a whole bunch of other "local-only labels". C. Schmidt's and Sons left a trail of destruction by buying competitors and closing their breweries, to use the local labels for "market share". They couldn't get Yuengling, Rolling Rock, nor Pittsburg Brewing Co....phew!

Jacob Schmidt got bought by G. Heilman, for the Hokey Hanson brothas of MN.

Oh, then G. Heilman tried to buy C. Schmidt's of Philadelphia....and eventually did, so in a way you are correct.

Edited a few times after reading the wiki page.

Slap shot is one of the very few movies that is as good in its original English soundtrack than its translated French Canadian version. Simply because it was a Canada/US co-production, with numerous French Canadians doing their own dubbing and hockey was absolutely sacred during my childhood growing up in Canada.

That the level of slang and "dirty" words used in the french version went straight to our little boys hearts since we were obviously not allowed to use any of that language you hear in the movie in real life.

But after watching the movie dozens of times, my brother, my friends and I knew every single line from the movie... and despite how vulgar the lines were, we were allowed to act and say the dirty lines, since it made our parents laugh out hard to see such little boys swearing like sailors and acting completely inapropriate!

I always been a big fan of Paul Newman both at the human level and the great actor he was. The fact that he personally asked for that gold '70 GTO for Reggie, but also because he was a true gear head and the car felt just right.

Smokey and the Bandit also had a big impact on me as a child and I obviously ended driving/owning a bunch of mid 70s Trans-Am cars as soon as I could drive.

Bottom line for me is that I could still watch Slap Shot 10 times in a row... Smokey and the Bandit , I dunno... lol
