I believe there were 17 Ram Air IV convertibles and MOST of them, not all, were Judges. Around 13 were Judges, but I cannot remember exactly.

Of the 72 automatics in 1970 Judge's with M40 tranny:

Pontiac=41
Fremont=9
Arlington=12
Baltimore=10

These aren't my numbers though, probably from these forums somewhere. (Rick?)

Default Paraphrased numbers from Dan Jensen

453 M-22 GTOs with the 455 H.O.

23 3-speed cars.

The 4-speeds by plant are 244 Pontiac, 73 Framingham, 115 Fremont, and 21 Lakewood.

There were 21 HO convertibles, all built at the Pontiac plant.

These numbers do include the 3 Judges verts and 177 Judge HT's.

276 71 GTO HT with 455 HO M-22.

There were a total of 54 455 H.O.-powered GT-37s. I have no breakdown of the 54, but I estimate it to be about 34 sticks and 20 automatics.

Bumping this up.
Currently on a search to find a thread we had going on here - where I had posted all available info/documents/pictures of all the known 1970 Ram Air IV Judge Convertibles.

At minimum there was at least a picture of each car , and most of them we had plenty of info about them.

I can't find that thread , it might have disappeared on the last forum software re-hash.
If anyone can find it , please give it a BUMP to bring it back into view.

With 2 of the Automatic cars coming up for sale at Kissimmee event , I wanted to update that thread.

I think all we had on the OO M40 Vert was a pre-restoration picture in non-original color.
Seems like it was wearing Carousel Red/HuggerOrange.

And a White M40 , that was wearing OrbitO pre-resto.
Have not heard another peep or squeek about the White one and its been years since.

17 Stick and 7 Auto is -from what seems to be consensus- the total of ALL GTO & Judge combined.
17 seems to have been some kind of magic number with PMD stuff
Many say 17 was total Ram Air IV Judge Vert production.
Have also heard 14 and 12
I believe 12 is also the number of current known cars.

I have all the pictures and documents from that thread on a sick laptop that needs surgery.
So I can't access the stuff until I get in the mood to screw with it.

Any help and all contributing posts definitely appreciated

Thank You , Thank You John.
That particular thread seems to have disappeared and I put a lot of time and research into it back then trying to get something on every car known.

Even one form of search I ran was finding every thread I have ever started on this entire site. It wasn't there.
So either I was piggy-backing on something else, or its gone.
I tried a lot of search ideas too.

Diego shows 2 Atoll Blue Autos , and I think I had both of those too in my original 12 count.
The White Auto came in later on/last at #13 down the road.

Going to copy / paste Diego's data & list over to this thread.
Thanks John

This was posted by Diego in the year 2017

Quote:
Also from McCarthy’s book it is known that 37 1970 RAIV GTO+Judge convertibles were produced in total, and of those 24 were 4-speeds (WW code) and 13 were Autos (XP code). Following the overall sales data of GTOs vs. Judges, McCarthy estimated that possibly half of these 37 convertibles would have been GTOs while the other half Judges, which has lead to an approximation that 12 4-speed and 7 Auto RAIV Judge convertibles were produced in 1970, but this breakdown is purely speculative.

The following are the only RAIV GTO+Judge convertibles known to exist:

Qty Model Trans VIN# Ext Color Int Color Top
#1 of 24 Judge 4-speed 242670B113xxx Cardinal Red Sandalwood White
#2 of 24 Judge 4-speed 242670Z126xxx Pepper Green Green White
#3 of 24 Judge 4-speed 242670B129xxx Pepper Green Black White
#4 of 24 Judge 4-speed 242670Z133xxx Cardinal Red Red White
#5 of 24 Judge 4-speed 242670P197xxx Orbit Orange Saddle Dark Gold
#6 of 24 Judge 4-speed 242670P208xxx Palladium Silver Black Black

#1 of 13 Judge Auto 242670Z119xxx Granada Gold Sandalwood Dark Gold
#2 of 13 Judge Auto 242670B129xxx Orbit Orange Black Black
#3 of 13 Judge Auto 242670P177xxx Starlight Black Sandalwood White
#4 of 13 Judge Auto 242670P197xxx Atoll Blue Black White
#5 of 13 Judge Auto 242670P209xxx Palladium Silver Black Black
#6 of 13 Judge Auto 242670P248xxx Atoll Blue Blue White
#7 of 13 Judge Auto 242670P287xxx Polar White Black Black
I can only add the following cars to this list :

GTO Auto =
White , Sandalwood Bench Seat , Auto on Column , Sandalwood Top
Sold new in Canada
Last I knew of it , it was an unrestored #s matching survivor.

GTO 4spd =
Palomino Copper , Saddle , Sandalwood Top
Frame off restored

I have never owned or read any of McCarthy's books and have never been aware of the 24 4spd / 13 Auto Ram4 Convertible totals.
Amazing to me that no one seems to have ever brought that up before.

I think his books were done quite a while back.
Weren't they done in the 20th century ?

I did find some more threads with info , but still not the one I was really looking for.

One PY member who is a trustable source has stated there are more 1970 Ram4 Judge Convertibles out there.
As in he knew for sure of it , not just speculating or hear-say
But gave no specifics

Another PY member stated there is a documented GTO Ram4 Vert known in OrbitOrange (non-Judge)

It is easily possible that some other cars are with long time owners, even some who may have gotten their documenting invoices back when they were free from PMD, and been quietly keeping them secluded ever since.
But even that scenario is going to be a small number at best.

Default 1970 GTO Judge RAIV

Baron,
Here is some additional information that you have asked about the 1970 RAIV Judge Convs. In my records I have information on 13 1970 Judge Conv RAIV cars. Attached is a table of the cars, colors, transmission, state sold in and the number of options on each car. This # includes Judge package and Ride and Handling package as well.

I did speak with the owner of the White car that was from Canada, if I remember correctly from the conversation. The car has not been restored.

I can also collaborate the information that there is one more RAIV Judge Conv out there that is not on this list. I do not know if we will have that cars info as the owner is secretive about it's information. I was told this second hand.

Finally, I have produced and just launched a 1970 & 1971 GTO Judge Registry for these cars. It first started out just for 1970 Judge Conv cars but has morphed into a registry for hardtops as well for model years 1970 and 1971. The Website has some growth to experience, but it is at a point where it is functional. Next steps are for a reports page where a user can search the database for how many cars were "this color", etc. There will be some "canned" searches, but I am also working on custom searches as well. The results will only be for what data is in the database.

Here is the website address: www.gtojudgeregistry.com

I hope you all take a look at this site; I will be making a strong push to advertise the site more in 2023 to increase awareness.

I hope the information I have provided has been beneficial.
Steve

Thanks Steve

And that is really great news about your Registry.
Will definitely be checking that out.
Enthusiasts will welcome that.

2 small things I want to point out about these Ram4 lists with 13 cars.
The Granada Gold car was restored with a Sandalwood Top , though it appears to have been built with the Dark Gold top.
Granada Gold is probably the best color to go along with the Dark Gold Top.
When the OrbitOrange 4spd was restored, that owner had to have a whole new roll of that material made
to do the Top for that car.
It was said he has enough material left over to do perhaps 50 more Tops.
So if anyone needs to have one made that color ,,, he has more material to spare.
Pass it on ...........

Next thing is the list that was supplied to Diego - by a friend of his - lists the Black Auto car as being built with a White Top.
It was restored with Sandalwood Top.
And I like that combo better.
I am thinking that since that list has partial VIN's listed that he had either seen the Invoice on that car , or had seen the trim tag in person.

Does anyone know for positive sure which color top the Black Auto was built with ?
No big deal towards the cars dynamite appearance , just curiosity on my part.

Baron,

The Black Auto car has a Sandalwood top and interior. That is what is listed on the PHS that I have for the car. You are also correct about the Granada Gold car; it was ordered with a gold top.

Just bumping this up
In case anyone has any old news or new news .

Some of these 70 IV JVert cars have been dancing around in the past few years.

Still have not heard any further sounds about any 69 IV JVerts other than the Orange car of Ames and the Black car that Milt used to own.
As far as I know Ames car is still in his collection
And the Black car still with the fellow in California who bought it from Milt

I have a regular GTO (non Judge) with RAIV in Sweden. Sold new to Sweden with kilometer speedometer. Palamino copper with black interior with D98 stipes from factory. How many where made and what are they going for in the US? I have the buildsheet!

70 Hdtp IV 4spd Green-Green GTO just sold for 105k a week or two ago.
Frame Off and previous Concours award winner
That was sort of low in my opinion.

You might have the only IV car with Kilo speedo .
Can't recall another one.

There is a Palomino IV 4spd GTO Vert with D98
But they used Olive 70 eyebrows on it for some reason , instead of Red White Black 69 swords.

Mine has a memo handwritten on the buildsheet that says build with black stripes.
