Saw those heads about a year after we had our billet Ram Air V heads finished. So they have been around for approximately 7-8 years. One thing I particularly like about them is the ability to add a second spark plug. Looks like there is plenty of room on the other side of the chamber. With a high % of nitro, keeping all 8 cylinders lit is a tough issue. Having a second spark plug would be a nice bonus.

You would throw up if you knew how much folks have into them. Expensive hobby at that level.

About 10k for bare heads. There is no price difference between max effort or not. Each set is made to your needs.

What are the holes between the valve spring seats for?
Extra cooling lines?

Just like anything else, once you get to a certain point in performance just a "little bit" more cost a lot more money.
Us po folk have to make do when one of you guys trades up and buy you old junk.
Most of us have to be bang for your buck people. Let guys like you pay for all the R&D, then it gets cheaper for the masses.
Paves the way.

That might be!

I didn't think of a direct injection port.
Figured in between valves it might be used to cool the valves more.
Alcohol injection into the port there may be better cooling.

Does anyone know when SBC water pumps were first used on Pontiacs?

I made this setup in the late eighties before the internet. Hand made adapters and front plate with a modified Weiand front cover. I had no idea what other Pontiac guys were doing unless I read it in a magazine.
The pic is after I added the crank trigger but everything else is the same. I used the original Moroso black finned electric pump.
With Moon no longer making front covers, a nice billet one is needed for sure!
