Default Custom console for 72 Lemans

I am planning on building a custom center console for my 72 Lemans. Need something with cup holders for those long rides. Looking for ideas or pictures of someone that did it.
Right now all I have is a shifter between the seats.

Funny how when you retire you look for projects to get you out of the house.

ID:	603626[/ATTACH] I bought this from a car show vendor in Daytona, a few years ago. Works great for my 72 Lemans. You can try this website. www.cupholersplus.com . They look very similar. The top is hinged, large storage compartment, and 2 different sized cup holders. It sticks to the carpet really well, from the Velcro strips underneath.

Made 2 out of carboard this morning. Need opinion on which one to proceed with. I am leaning to the one flat to the floor because it resembles the factory. The one that slopes up torwards the dash would have cubby holes for storage. The cup holders will be in the flat area between the seats.

I prefer the one that does not meet the dash- makes it feel more open.

Like the one the go's up to the dash. If you decide to build that one let me know what it would cost to make one for me lol

Does the one going up the dash affect the heat vent at all? If not, that would be a good place for gauges if you need them.

All done. Built it out of wood and wrapped it with 1/4" foam and vinyl. Borrowed the granddaughters sewing machine. Sewed it like a seat cover. First time using a sewing machine since home ech in high school, over 40 years ago. Sewing isn't that hard. Now setting up the machine was a different story.
Now I am going to sew up a nice package tray, maybe with a pontiac emblem.
