Why , I have never dynoed a engine/car in my life nor have I ever said I have dynoed anything.
IMO they are kind of overrated and underrated at the same time.
If you have a engine/combo that you spent big money on and are pushing HP. Trying something different, want to carb dialed in from the start and/or want the info for the perfect torque converter, pay the 800+$ and go through a whole weekend or more of labor and for me, pay the 2,000 knock yourself out.
But for all the people who dyno a 350hp known combo wheezer you just paid 800$ to check for oil leaks.
I think its ridiculous. Make a run in stand, set the timing and check for leaks, install in car.
My 461, if the stars line up I might get it dynoed this spring but if I do not have the time I will put it in the car and go racing. Everything in the combo is well thought out and should be very close to optimum.

I stuck a bunch of old time slips in a zip lock bag cleaning up the car/garage awhile back. They are stuck in a box somewhere, I will be moving at some point. They will turn up. I know I saved a couple of the 10.83 slips.
I did find a slip from the time I had unported 96s on the 455 for a few seasons. It was a 12.10 slip run with a cam that was too big for what I was doing.
I just threw it together while I was waiting forever for Whitmore to finish my HOs for SR cam.
When I find them I will put one up just for you Bill. It will go like 10.83, 1.44 60 foot, 119MPH, 6.92 in the 1/8.
I do not throw stuff away that I probably should so they are still around.
My 455 does not make make all that much power. Only reason it ETs good is I have a rear suspension like a 8-9 second car has and I race at sea level. I am just about in 3rd gear by the end of the 60 foot, let torque do the work.

Yeah, the guy who suggested a 1000HP fire breathing beast of a cam with a little set of High Ports to go with a converter that was not matched to the whole mess.
It ran so well the customer bought a whole new set of canted valve heads, intake manifold, new roller rockers and valve covers, pistons, rings and re balance to get a decent time out of the 20+K he has to have in all of it.
Like I said, experiences like that make a whole lot of former Pontiac guys who sell their Pontiac junk and call up Steve Schmidt and get a 800 HP BBC for 17K with a one years guarantee.
Just glad he still has a Pontiac in it with whatever heads he wants.
Kinda feel bad about what he had to have gone through.

… there’s that CV hatred we’ve been waiting for 👍🏻 …
… .727/.676 is a fire breathing cam to you ?? 🤣🤣 …
…the pistons were weight matched, but hey keep making more assumptions…
… you’re throwing shade at a 9 second car and your car runs what ?? … 🤣🤣
… you couldn’t build a Pontiac that makes 1000hp if someone gave it you 🤣🤣 …
… but yet DragnCar knows all, let us bow our heads at your intelligence sir 👍🏻 …
… please continue 👍🏻 …

How many hours have you had on a Dyno Cell, TTB?

Doubt if it is more than several hundred in your lifetime.

Now you take a Pontiac Guy named Chris Piper (who worked for Ford Research in the dyno labs) who would
run a engine dyno test program where his engines (6) (each one were on the cell for 2800 hours of testing).

So Dragncar does not use a dyno cell.
You do a few pulls on a dyno cell in a days time.
Piper runs for 1000s of hours on a dyno cell for each engine of the 6 engines.

I personally had a few years on dyno cells at Holley Carburetor,
the 7 years on dyno cells at the Ford Motor Company doing Emissions work certified by the EPA.
Last job in Ford Research (14 years) I had engines running on dynos for two shifts EVERY DAY for those 14 years.

So everyone had a point in time with actual dyno cell experience.
Think about that TTB when you make future posts about dyno cell testing,

LMFAO

Even if that is a typeo and you meant 110 MPH or 109 MPH I still call BS.

Now if the 119 MPH is your 1/4 mile number? That would be around 98 MPH @ 1/8 mile.

Fwiw, 6.45 isn't 9s in 1/4.
Bill couple questions I'm curious about, since pistons where replaced did the ring pack stay the same as old? What rocker ratio he running with CV-1?

Stan, not sure I agree with you numbers, we have ran 119mph with my brothers car and 1/8 was 95-96

Lol..... I'd imagine with guys as smart as Kevin Sweeny and TTB involved the ring pack was changed ( 8HP there) , seasoned cylinders re-honed with a torque plate ( 12 HP there) , correct cam timing (4HP) , improve rocker arm system (8 HP) and now we know where that 30 horsepower gain came from..... I mean those ex-employees from Sonny's and Kevin Sweeney don't screw around when it comes to making big power!

Merry Christmas Stan, how much flywheel horsepower is this car showing? Also how much (if any ) of a power gain do you come up with?
