Default 64 Tripower correct water fitting

Hi folks, kinda starting a feeler thread about the correct water return fitting for the 1964 GTO Tripower...

My understanding is a different fitting was used then came on the big cars, its made of brass, and has a shorter galvi pipe attached, see pic... With it being a one year, one model, one intake only, they are very hard to come by. I've seen

lots of 64's with the big car fitting, usually denoting a swap.

I'm looking into having the fitting reproduced, and am curious if there is a demand for having them made. please reply if you would like to get one, it will help me gauge a production number, which will help me with a price... I'm hoping for a cost around 40-60$...

Best, Trent

Parts book shows no difference between P/8 and T/8 . 9771042 is no A/c and should be the bent steel pipe. The piece you show should be the 9775693 for A/C applications. Parts book picture for 3x2 shows it with the 9771042 screwing into the 9775693 although I'm not sure that was how it was done. I have seen sone times that it looks like the A/C may have had a heater control valve into the brass fitting. Not sure there are enough pictures in the manuals to be certain

The picture you have looks like there may be a short snout before the threads that may have a reduced size hole as would be used to drop water pressure and prevent blowing out the heater core. Don't ask how I know.

The piece you show is just a normal 45 degree fitting that the 90 degree elbow screws into. I believe it is used on AC cars both tripower and non tp. I've had it on both TP and 4bbl manifolds.

I have not seen this fitting on big Pontiacs, only '64 GTO's, with and without A/C.

I would be interested to learn the purpose of the fitting, as there is not a clearance issue if the fitting is not used.

That fitting was on my 1964 GP with a 4bbl manifold. I broke it trying to remove it from the manifold. It broke right where the threads met the square section. This has happened more than once to me over the years.

From the 1967 MPC:

For 1964 P/8 - T/8 Tri-Power there is the #9775693 ELBOW, heater water valve assembly, to manifold. This would be the brass fitting.

And. the #9776906 ELBOW, heater hose to intake manifold, exc. A.C. This would be the "regular" bent tube fitting added to the Tri-Power #9775693 fitting.
