Dennis, I did check on that rocker molding, not sure what it’s from but it’s the wrong length by about two inches, sure looks A body, maybe a GP. I got it in a batch of NOS stuff with no packaging.

Jeff, Thanks! The Rally II's sure add to the pizzazz of a mundane 4-door sedan.

Thanks for checking North! We'll keep our eyes peeled for some nice used or NOS pieces. 4-door trim is getting hard to find.

I got a call from the former owner (surviving wife) to let me know she found a few old photos of the car when it was newer (she wasn't sure of the year, but thought early 70's) and the bill of sale. She is going to mail these to me tomorrow, so can't wait to get them by the weekend. She made me promise to give her a ride in the Lemans in return!

Just ran across this thread, what a cool car and story ! My Pontiac roots started with 68 Lemans (2) so this and the 350 HO has always been of much interest to me although our previous cars were all 350 2v including our current 69 lemans 2 door HT cream puff one owner garage car we got a couple years ago that has 86k miles original garaged whole life.. The coolest 69 I can say I ran across here in Texas was back in 86 or 87 when I needed to find a replaced Z bar for my first car while still in high school was a 68 Lemans 4 speed 350 2v car when mine broke probably from engine movement at WOT with busted motor mount .. See these 4 door hardtop #'s are super low vs the other bodies this had to also be extremely rare and sure would like to have it today. Cool for a HO tribute and swap 4 spd from 3 spd .. Default Production figures

Wish you had purchased that 69 Liberty Blue 4 door hardtop Lemans.

Am amazed that more were not saved.

Does anyone have the figures for the 1970-1972 Pontiac intermediate 4 door hardtops? Engine figures?

I know a few of the figures, as a mere 19 with the factory installed 455 for 1972.

"Wish you had purchased that 69 Liberty Blue 4 door hardtop Lemans."

It was almost like the intent of a Euro inspired stick sporty 4 door like the 73-75 Grand Am or old OHC Sprints A body was intended

Well a broke teenager at the time I was lucky to have what I had, I had to buy my own cars.

Need a time machine to just go back to the late 80's in my old neighborhood with a bag of cash !

Weirdly Pontiac decreed that the intermediate Lemans 4 door hardtop was available ONLY as a "Luxury" Lemans for ml 1972. Mandatory extra trim to obscure the lower body line.

I wonder about the 1972 post sedans. How many with 400, 455, and/or T-41?

I received a nice little packet from the former owner with 14 pictures from the past (April '69 thru July '06), the original Bill of Sale dated Dec. 19, 1968, the Protect-O-Plate dated 12-68, the order form to install a new trailer hitch (from dealer's accessories dept.) and undercoating before delivery dated Dec. 18, 1968, his hand-written option list for a Tempest 4-dr Sedan and Tempest 2-dr coupe(!), and a service bulletin (dated April 9, 1969) regarding an issue with cracking Q-jet fast idle cams possibly preventing the throttle blades from closing and potentially causing an accident and to bring it into the local Pontiac service department for a replacement cam. All of this was placed in the original dealerships "Safe-T-Keep" Car Papers pouch (Sharpe Motor Sales in Greenville, MI). Unfortunately, she hasn't found a dealer option list or window sticker yet, however, she's still going through pictures and old documents, so hopefully will find some more goodies.

I hear you North! The stories that are behind the cars are what makes them so interesting. The group of 4 pictures staring with the upper left is the Custom S in May of 1969; upper right Fall of 1971 (need to know the story of the black '69 Tempest post coupe in the foreground!); lower left July of 1975 with "Engine out for overhaul, timing gear went out" (so that answers some of our questions and suspicions); and lower right May 1982 replacing front fenders with NOS (notice the original large single snorkel air cleaner) and when the rest of the car got primered in gray. I see there are aftermarket stick-on body side moldings that were added at some point...

..and a side shot of the original dealership building.

North, There are a couple pictures (dated of July 10, 2006) where the engine looks freshly painted and showing a very clean (probably newly installed) dual quad set-up and air filters.

I wonder what he was thinking? That car must of surprised a few guys when new with 330 horses and 3.55’s in a hub capped taxi looking car.

That certainly is a mystery. I have no clue what would possess a person to do something like that to a small cube engine. I could see a 400-455 2-dr A-body with this set-up, though nothing I would ever do. I'm sure the family might have some insight to his thinking.

The wife said it was a surprisingly quick car that she loved to 'squeal' the tires taking off from stop signs. We'll find out more in spring once we get it dialed in a bit more. I'm hoping she'll have some more driving stories and how they came to order such a car.

North, do you know of any reasonably priced whitewall tires (modern radials) for these cars...225/75R14?

225/75-14 looks to be difficult if not impossible to find. Absolutely nothing in that size on the Tire Rack for instance.

If you’re willing to settle for a 215/75-14 this one hits the jackpot at Walmart in narrow white wall at $83.32 each.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hankook-O...4-98S/17792573

Saw a couple 225/75r14 wide white walls in the $250 to $300 range on Walmart but that’s it.

Thanks B-man! There really aren't many choices left for 14" wheels. I think the 215/75R14's are a bit too short (25.8"). I do like the white walls and the price is right! However, I may just go to a 15" rim as that opens up more options...According to conversion charts the 215/75R14 = G78-14 = 8.25-14, so it would be right.
