Default 1971 Lemans Ivory interior

I am finishing up the upholstery on my 1971 Lemans Sport. It has the ivory interior. I would like to use SEM color coat on some of the plastic pieces that are badly sun faded.

So far, I haven't been able to determine what would be the closest color match.
from their color charts online, the Ivory seems way too tan...

I googled it and found on one of the Chevelle sites that the "super white" was a close match on the 1972 Chevelle white interior. However, no telling if 1972 chevelle white is close to 1971 Pontiac Ivory...

Was curious if anyone might already go through this and knows? SEM has superwhite, sailcloth white, phantom white, gloss white, white, Ranger white, etc.

I'd like to stick with the stock colors that they carry v. getting something custom mixed since it would be easier to fix scuffs, etc in the future.

Anyone know what white to use?

I used #815 AMES
Z37 White on my 72 Lemans Sport.

Thanks gman. I really appreciate the response. Any chance you’d have a picture?

I’m thinking the 71 and 72 might be different

I looked in Ames catalog and they don’t show that number. They have an m37 that says it is for 72 and a pearl but I’m not convinced either one of those is right.

It’s sort of funny because I don’t actually care if it is the right white color, just that is looks good.

I called all over the place and couldn’t find anyone local that would do a color match. One paint supplier said if I could get the formula they would mix it, but they wouldn’t match it

I found a formula on SEM’s website. It would be $114 for a qt. I’m thinking I might buy a can of the super white for $20 first and then if it isn’t close enough I’ll gave the custom quart mixed up

SEM 15103 super white is what you're after. I used that on my 72 Lemans Ivory interior and it was a very close match to my Legendary seat covers. I can't tell the difference and I sprayed my head rests to match the Bucket seats. The cap to the can looks about the right off white and the super white name was a bit misleading. I'm not sure why it's called super white. Chevy made some very white interiors I don't like.

Ok thanks

I ordered up a can of super white. Figured I’d try that first and if it isn’t a match I’ll try the custom mix.

I’ll report back…

Just thought I would update the results of the SEM super white for posterity..

It isn’t a perfect match to the legendary upholstery, but it is a very good match to the original. I’m assuming the the original gas faded a bit .

Anyway it is good enough that I don’t think I’m going to try to get the quart of the custom color. However the sheen is too flat, so I am going to get some semi gloss clear coat and see if I can get it to about the same sheen.

Then I am going to spray the convertible well covers that I got from legendary and my original door panels with the super white.

Pics show the legendary vinyl, the super white, and the original vinyl as comparison.

I also noticed that the original comfort weave is much darker than the new seat covers. Weird how that must have darkened up instead of fading.

Anyway, everything looks much better than it did and it’s good to know I can always touch up pieces with a little super white.

When comparing different materials and surfaces, color can be deceiving. Smooth flat surfaces of vinyl and plastic seat components painted the same color can look shades different. Also, side by side can be telling. But, once you mount a side panel and try to see a difference to a seat cover, good luck. They look the same. I don't know if it looks too much different to you to go through painting new parts to match. I sprayed my headrests to match my new Legendary seat covers. I have to look very close to see the difference. No one else can tell.
