Default 1966 stock 4bbl intake and carb

Anyone have any good pics showing all the hoses and other doodads as delivered? Factory pics, concourse examples, etc.?
I took this apart and rebuilt the carb years ago and put it on a shelf. I bought the complete '66 WT code engine out of a parts car, a '65 GTO. The guy I got it from started it for me right there in the yard. The choke even kicked down after it warmed up. The exhaust manifold still has the working butterfly valve.
I had the machine shop clean the engine up, I installed new rings, seals, bearings, etc. . Heads have been through a refresh also.
I have a tripower for it but decided that it might be smarter to start initially with the original 4bbl but it's been so long that I can't remember the details.

MY 66, two speed auto, had a different carb than in the pic. Carb had a large brass air screw in the front of the carb, which adjusted idle speed. There was no idle speed screw on the side of the carb, but the boss for it was there.

Thumbs up

These may be of use, these are some images of a few different examples I took at different events. Sorry, some are a bit dark.

This carb is for A.I.R. California usage. Do you have all the A.I.R. parts on engine functional?

Geoff, thanks. Mine has the basic idle screw, mixture screws, etc..
Jeff, yes those do help. I can at least see the PCV arrangement and I recall having that three way plastic fitting somewhere. I think I also have that stamped metal piece that holds the hose up off the manifold somewhere. What is the hose suspended above the driver's side valve cover and appears to go down near the fuel pump?
Kenth, I know nothing about A.I.R. cars and had no idea that this was from one. What gives it away? Can't imagine how it wound up in a field in Alabama. All I got was the running engine with carb and exhaust manifolds.
By the way, I can't remember where the little bracket fits in but I'm pretty sure that it was attached to the carb somewhere.
Another thing is that the metal tag on the carb is 4243S. The info that I found tells me that it is for a 1967 400. I had thought that the '67 400s got Q-jets....so, maybe this A.I.R. carb was transferred to this engine at some point.

GTO, Firebird, and big cars with the 428. B-bodies still used the Carter AFB

Yeah, I did find some 1967 Pontiac applications for it after looking some more. What I didn't find was any 1966 applications. Not under that tag number anyway. Somehow it found it's way on this engine.

Greg, iŽll have to revise my statement on your 1967 326-400 M/T 4243S AFB.
Usually 1966-67 A.I.R. carbs lacks the air idle speed screw between the mixture screws and instead uses a regular throttle idle speed screw.

But, as i have found looking thru the specs, the 4243S is unique as it is the only Pontiac non-A.I.R. AFB using a regular throttle idle speed screw instead of the air idle speed screw.

It should have primary venturi assembly stamped 1071 on choke side and 1072 on pump side.
The secondary venturi assembly is stamped 846 on choke side and 847 on pump side.

Sorry for an confusion.

No apologies Kenth. I just checked the venturis and you are spot on. Thanks.
Took a closer look at Jeff's photos and I see that the ds hose I asked about is clearly marked 'GAS'. Didn't realize that the factory used rubber fuel lines that far into engine compartment.

By the way, does anyone know where the bracket in my third pic goes?
My best guess is here but I have no idea what purpose it serves.

Looks like the bracket for the kick-down switch used on Firebird w/326 and ST300.

You really know your stuff Kenth. I looked that up and the repops look identical except for one detail. All of them kick up where mine kicks down.

Until I ran across this one. 1965 GTO possibly? This engine was pulled from a '65 GTO. Possibly it was transferred over to this carb. I think it was an auto but it's been a decade ago

Makes perfect sense the more I think about it. This 66 4-speed engine and carb were transferred over to the '65 auto car that I got it out of and of course they still needed the kick down switch so they transferred the bracket to this carb.
