Default engine dies on fast stop, ?
need advice please,
1966. PGP 389 thm400 325hp
car runs great in all respects, except when I come to a fast stop the engine idle goes so low some times the oil light comes or the engine sometimes dies.

If I remember correctly you have an AFB 4bbl with a vacuum dashpot. The dashpot is supposed to prevent that condition. Is it working and adjusted correctly?

yes it has one on it but it seems frozen, I have no experience with dash pots. need help how to test, repair. thanks for your help, Allan

Apply vacuum to the hose and if the piston moves it works. If it is not working Ames sells them PN: PN455J.You set your idle in the normal manner. Dash pot adjustment varies by year and application. When adjusting do not let the piston turn. Hold it and just turn hex on the end.

I applied vacuum , but it is frozen. ordered new one. thanks very much, ALLAN
