Default ‘68 GTO Headliner Bows (6 bow specifically)

When I got this car my headliner was shot and so we’re the bows. The thinner listing wire type bow had disintegrated and the other 5 were a mess.

My bows didn’t appear to have any paint left and the new set I purchased didn’t seem to match the colors I saw referenced online. I tagged mine and measured them in the event it’ll possibly help someone down the road who is either missing bows, or has no bows installed to begin with.

Bow 1: 48-1/4”
Bow 2: 48-1/4”
Bow 3: Listing wire bow
Bow 4: 50-3/4”
Bow 5: 53-5/8”
Bow 6: 53-5/8”

I guess what I’m trying to say is, some bow manufacturers appear to make their own color system to match their instructions. These often fail to match the original factory colors. I found very little info online in regards to the 6 Bow headliner bows.

Since you seem to have a handle on this .... the listing wire bow is two pieces right? I hope so because mine is in two pieces. (reminds me of the old "2 Part Warranty" ... if it breaks into two parts, you can keep both of them)

I should have a spare set of the five big bows when I'm done if anyone ends up needing a set and wants to pay the freight.

Just one piece Data. You can buy the rod at Home Depot or Lowes, cut to fit and bend the ends slightly

Back in the eighties when I removed what was left of my headliner I noticed the color codes on the end of each bow. Don't know why, but at the time I had the presence of mind to write on the metal trim where each color went.

Fast forward 35 years and the writing was still there as well as the color on the rods, but faint. I rewrote the lettering, cleaned and painted the rods.

Now just gotta get the headliner installed

I'll look again but I'd swear my listing bow, the thin one is two pieces, one piece on each side of the dome light, held in place by the dome light wire/rod clips. The dome light fixture blocks it from going all the way across in one piece.

The wire is recessed under the dome light.

I added the colors as found on my Fremont car.

Well that pretty much explains that ... wonder if I cut it in half for some reason to get it out
Thanks yet again.

Found my listing wire bow .... yes it is one piece

My spare set of bows just show the faintest original color on a couple of them, see blue and some green.

Going to pull the still installed originals one at a time and see if I can find anything on them.

Double checking my installation ... the dome light electrical wires go to the rear of the car and the listing wire goes in the front slots?
I'm using the OEM clips and I noticed the part of the clip that holds the wire is somewhat jammed against the rear of the cross support .. pushing the clip/wires down about 1/8" or so ... problem? Checked two sets of OEM clips from different 68's, both fit the same way.

Anyone know what the center position on the clips are for?
