Default Performer RPM, '79 qjet and Drop Base issues

Just recieved a W72 qjet in the mail and my pro touring f body drop base air cleaner that previously worked with a demon carb doesn't fit a qjet. I drilled a perfect hole for the vent tube on the carb but the base doesn't clear the fuel inlet on the qjet now.

Is there a different fuel inlet piece I can use?
Will the WFO piece be a better choice?

My experience with pro touring at this point hasn't been the greatest and I haven't even gotten to the point of attempting to close the hood.

I have the WFO -1 base and i run a RPM and a Quad. It all works great with my shaker. Im not familier with your drop base.
