70 Firebird 10 bolt rear
I removed my rear out of my 70 esprit today. It is a non posi rear. Are these worth anything?

Should be a 8.2 Pontiac Rear, Not a 8.5 Corporate rear ( 10 bolt)
Should be a 4 leaf set up and 2.7x gear There are gears and posi for these if staying stock. I toss em, don't sell well. * Exception there were Esprit made with 12 bolt chevy rear ends. On the side, If it has nice brake drums, those are worth keeping. The off shore stuff isn't good.

Low horse '70 F-bodys were built with C-clip axle 8.2 Chevy rears. Was a one model year deal. One of the weakest of all 8.2 10 bolts. Over the years, I've limited customers throwing $$$$ at the 8.2 Chevy 10 bolts, limiting such builds to one's off the narrow '65-67 Chevy II housings, with most of those going into cruiser type 30's-40's street rod builds.
On '70 Firebird partscars, I've typically stripped their 8.2 Chevy 10 bolts of nice cleaned loaded backing plates as well as nice clean thick drums. Then either pitched the rear or used it as a roller rear in a 2nd Gen project. The Chevy style backing plates with the spotwelded on flange & long emergency brake cables were used on all '70-74 F-body's. Have a sealed up '70 Bird in back of my shop which is a floor shift 350 car w/o A/C. Should have 3.36 ratio 8.2 Chevy ring & pinion.

OK, thank you. I figured since its a one year only rear maybe it would be worth a few bucks. I rebuilt a later 10 bolt posi for it.
