Default 2015 catalogs

Thanks for getting the catalogs out so fast after I ordered them ...

great discriptions on many of the parts ...good pictures .. and lots of goodies too...

I had all 3 catalogs within 2 weeks .....

BUT ... after chatting with a few other gents, a couple of them had beat up catalogs also,

I dont know who's machine is eating the front and back covers on the way from you to

me/us but my catalogs look like they are almost ready for the recycle bin...or at least the shop/garage copy ...

you may consider shrink wrapping them ... or ?

maybe its the post office ....... but I get several magazines and different catalogs

and they dont seem to be abused ....I seem to remember the hemmings being

delivered in shrink wrap ... kinda a bummer with all the work going into a catalog ,that it arrives all beat up...

thanks again .........thanks for keeping the forum alive

You can more than likely blame the USPS's carriers Scott. And it's probably the same for some up in Canada with their postal service. I've gotten catalogs from different vendors and most come in perfect condition, and then some come torn all to hell. They're free and though it's an inconvenience, scotch tape does fix them up. ;) If they shrink wrapped or bagged them, they might not be free any more.

The same goes for parts shipped via the USPS... and FedEx and UPS too.

Default ok

It probably cost around 3.00 per catalog to print and shrink wrapping

only costs less than a dime .... I worked in a printing shop for 35 years ...

yes the machines are expensive but I am sure it can be used for other items also..

its just a bummer to have a beat up new catalog layin around the house/garage

when we take so much pride in our vehicles ....

my buddies opgi danchuck etc all seem to make it safely

I dont mind paying as many of us would ... the price of the shrink wrapping

would melt into the price of our goods we purchase I would imagine ..

just my 2 cents

Scott

to me it kinda reflects upon the company when I get something abused like that

and there is a very simple solution for the future..

Mine came about a week ago. Front cover had a couple of rips, rear cover ripped in half. But the majority of interior pages survived in one piece! I was just happy to finally have it in my hands.

I doubt that Ames\PY themselves are chewing up the catalogs before shipping them, have you seen the size of the automated machines that sort and organize mail? Depending on the steps involved to get it from point A to point B you can have an out of calibration machine chew up all sorts of things before anyone at the post office notices (or cares!).

If it's that big of a deal, when you place an order they'll put a catalog in the box with it if you ask...

Today I was sorting through catalogs in my office. I found 3 of the newest Firebird catalogs and 4 of the newest GTO catalogs. I'm sure that all were shipped boxed up with parts orders, so they are perfect.
Moral: order parts, get nice catalog!

I got one both ways....one in a box with an order and another in the mail. Both are in perfect condition. In fact, I've never had one that arrived damaged.

Mine looked a lot like Scott's, possibly worse... We're both out on the left coast so maybe there's some sort of rogue USPS sorting station west of the Rockies. Or that east coast bias. Or payback for our rust-free sheet metal. Seriously though, Smoke Signals comes wrapped and arrives in great shape and Ames is the only catalog I hold on to. The others go straight to the recycling bin.
