Why do people hurry to be the first one to post when someone dies?
We’re all on the web, we all know, or we wouldn’t be reading the Post here. People just get off on posting when people die, don’t get it.

I agree. The old guys at my work used to read the obituaries, in the news paper, all the time. Never could understand it. I think it makes some people feel better because they're "not the one". Kinda like the people that stare going by an accident at 5 mph. Then you see them looking in their rear view mirror after they are past it. It's morbid and disrespectful. I've thought about mentioning this same thing. I figured I'd get crucified.

Here’s a better question. Why did 470 people look at my question about fuel pump recommendations for my car in the boost section but I only got one pertinent answer? Isn’t the idea of the forums to help each other?
The lobby gets all kinds of odd posts but that what makes it interesting.

I just take it they liked the person and want to pay respect, tribute, or share a memory. That it might be someone's ego trip to post it doesn't come to my simple mind.

Just gave a buddy of mine crap about him posting on his Facebook every time a famous person died, told him he needs to get a job in the media.

So what does he do tags me In The next post. Thankfully I have to approve all tags.

I don’t expect anything less from a Mustang guy

People post about current events all the time, whether it's the death of a celebrity or anything else. They're just starting a conversation about some news they heard, like one would do with a group of friends.

I figure no one is forced to read any of these posts.
If the heading doesn't agree with one, don't read it?
No need to post either I would think, if one doesn't like it?

One thing that is nice is if you hover over the thread title, you can get a glimpse of what may be in it. Then either click on it to read or go on to some other thread.

Most of the time, especially when a musician or singer dies, other people post about concerts they saw "back in the day" or other ways that person impacted their life, and I personally find that interesting.

Don't like the headline? Don't read the post. Pretty simple concept, at least to me.

I'd find it odd if Meatloaf died and someone didn't start a thread about his death right away. It opens up the conversation and allows people to share their anecdotal stories.

Post above pretty much says it all for me.

I always like music by Willie Nelson and James Taylor, as well as some others in music. If they past, I would make a post about them....................

Same for people in other professions.

As far as hundreds of views and a few posts. Maybe a lot of those non-posters lived in an area were concerts were not common.

why do some people complain about everything they dont like or agree with?

we're not all on the web all the time, i see lots of people reply to the posts about a famous persons death or a breaking news story & say "omg i didnt know that" or "really what happened"... they didnt hear about it yet because they were at work or outside working on their car/house/other hobby.

thats what social media & forums do, they talk about things & other people learn about things, just because you heard about it doesnt mean everyone else has.
