Default 71-72 Rally shifter

Could you get the Rally auto floor shifter on a LeMans in 71 or 72, or was it a Gto only option? We know in 72 the Gto became an option again on the LeMans. So if you ordered the auto with a console in a 72 LeMans or LeMans Sport, did it only come with the Rally shifter if you also checked off the Gto option?

Jeff not sure much help, but the '72 Lemans Sport GT I use to have had the duel gate or slap shifter in it. Not sure if it was a option or came on the Lemans Sport GT? I know not much help! Hopefully someone can give you a better answer? This was the car!

According to the ‘71 Accessories Catalog the “Rally Sport” shifter only came with GTO.

I never realized this. Thought they were all the same.

Lyn, do you recall if that 72 Sport Gt's slap shifter bezel had the numbers 1 2 3 printed on the woodgrain decal? That decal was used when those Rally shifters were installed. Non Rally shifters didn't have the numbers as far as I know.

I saw that as well in that catalog. Of course some of those things have been proven to have changed once production began.
