I'd love to find a 66 wagon like it but modify it. As in using the rear and grafting it to a non original 66 GTO so you'd have a 2dr HT wagon.
Best of both worlds except for the 66's louvered tail lights. Only for a wagon could I live without em.

Great car, I love wagons. I've had an itch for a wagon for about 10 years now. Now for the GTO tail lights in the wagon, I saw a wagon about 20 years ago at a show here in MI. somewhere near Grand Rapids if I remember correct, there was a guy with awagon that he had grafted in the 67 style tail lamp into the back door & filled in the original tail lamps so it looked like the GTO rear but it was just inset a little. It looked good but because it was a little farther in because he had to have them all in the rear door it looked a little out of place , but you got use to it. I don't know where the car is now. Haven't seen it for about 15 or so years now.

That would be like the El Camino with the 66 GTO front clip on it. He grafted the 66 tail lights in the tailgate and that really looked strange, and out of place.

Yes I think if there was a way to split them & have them go all the way to each side it would have looked better & more balanced.

Thanks again for the compliments! I put the car in storage the other day before the recent snowfall and temp. drop. I can not wait to get the master cylinder changed and drive it! Of course I am waiting for good weather.

Goatwgn, if that's yours, you have to get it up to the PY show this year. If not... steal it and get it to the show. LOL I wanna see you parked next to me in the Mod group.

I love the GTO option wagons! This one won't get that treatment, but like what you guys have done. I am somewhat tempted to add Sprint options though! (in dash or hood tach, Stripes, etc.)

''car wasn't advertised..." Started screaming why didn't I find that until I saw your statement. I'm not far from F'burg and would have jumped all over it... I keep looking for an old wagon. Nice find, have fun with it

So Cool
As much as I hate the use of the word/description "RARE";
I will say out of the 470+ known OHC 6 Pontiac's I have on file only 5 are wagons, this being one of them. That would make calling this wagon RARE acceptable The tach I could see as a nice add-on, but IMO NO STRIPES. It's not a sprint and that's what makes it unique. Is the interior original? she sure is clean. What rear is in her? Do you have the build sheet/PHS? Great Pontiac, deserves to be persevered.

The picture with the brown car - must be grandpas car, if not the guy who inherited grandpas car. It's too nice |

Jeff,
I have the original window sticker and bill of sale! No PHS. Would there be any advantage to getting it if I have the other info? The car has an original interior and needs a bit of attention. One of the previous owners cut the door panels for speakers and the rear panels are sun baked pretty bad. I have some original door panels and will eventually repair and redye them to all match. The driver's side of the bench has a couple repairs in the vinyl that will also need fixed. It looks good in the pictures though! I am not going to do the Sprint option. Just the thought entered my mind. This is the reason I was asking the difference between 66 and 67 in dash tachs..... |

Nice car Sprintbird! As far as a tach goes, Jeff would know better than me, but I believe that the '66 & 67s are painted a slightly different color. You would also need one that was for a 6 cylinder not a 8. A '67 sprint car might be the only place to find one. Jerry.

Paul,
Looking at the '66 Fisher book it does show it as a one piece emblem. Shown as for Tempest Custom Wagon W/o wood grain. Since SB's is a '67 I think it safe to say this applies to both years. I think you are correct on the gauge faces being slightly different in shade/color, Pete Serio would be the go to guy for exact details. Adding a tach would be a real event as it's not just a tach if you use the Factory Rally Cluster. However there is one aftermarket unit designed to be installed where the clock sits but is has the 55K red-line [V8] FWIW I ran a V8 tach for years until I secured a correct 65K OHC tach. Don't know if PHS would offer further details. Can you scan the window sticker, would love to see the engine code info. Thanks

I know a guy that has one he'd probably sell. I am listening.... Jeff, I believe the rear is the stock 3.23 open diff. I have not had a chance to find the code, and the window sticker does not show anything regarding rear axle ratio. Last edited by sprintbird; 01-04-2014 at 03:43 PM. Reason: added window sticker |

Its mine.LOL. And Thanks for the compliment. Has been for 32 years. Was my stepdads before that. Every year I want to go to that show and it seems like sonmething always comes up. Will try and make it again this year. I used to go to the one at VA Motorsport park near Petersburg but they stopped doing that one. Just a couple of days ago (New years day in fact) I took everything apart to get the engine ready to come out so I can change my camshaft to something a little more streetable in my 455. Going to do some underhood detailing while I have it out. Changing out torque convertor as well. Getting my new cam broke in on a test stand. Should have it all back together at the end of Jan/ beginning of Feb.
