I've never seen this one before. Somebody from here needs to go get it!

Yuck! Rusty beach cars. These have been sitting outside for many years. Aside from being near the ocean, they get 55-60 inches of rain per year. May very well be even rustier than it looks.

If you read the ad and look at the bill of sale, you'll see that the TA was originally an M40 car, then converted to a 4 speed by her X.

I'm surprised the bidding is as high as it is.

the $10,549 is the opening bid, with a reserve, and there are no bids on it yet

One of the images in that listing is a screen shot of some on-line site, it states only 146 Trans Ams were painted Brewster Green. Is this accurate?

I don't think there is an exact # known, by color breakdown of these cars.

You're right. Over-looked that before.

This car peaked my interest when it first appeared,but I think you are absolutely right regarding the rust issues Ric. That and the " Auto" on the
original purchase invoice are pretty much deal killers at anything close to the
starting bid.

I have owned one of those western Oregon cars. As transamric says.... with park outside, constant humididty and 50+ inch of rain. And then park it in a shady spot to boot You have rust glazing everything everywhere, no matter if water actually hits it. It is a bio experiment project. When they have black mold on the body, that is final stage....

I was keeping an eye on this car. I wonder if anyone will pull the trigger?

The car is probably rotted to hell, which is a shame. I like how they didn't bother to cover up the air cleaner after someone stole the shaker.

I've never heard of there only being 146 Brewster cars.

Considering the "rust free Trans Am" thread, anything is rebuildable;
But I am a little confused, it looks like a 4 speed Trans Am;
But it reads as though the paperwork is for the Trans Am - which seems to show an automatic.
PHS would clear things up.

I hope it's saved.

I am guessing the opening bid is simply too high considering it's state of "disrepair"... to put it lightly.

The ad copy reads that her ex did the swap from A/T to 4 speed.

Looks like a rusty car to me. Look at the 6 pic closely. Middle of door or rocker has a giant rust hole in it. That car will be a rusty mess. Has the later 4 speed pedal. Starting bid a 10,500. No way on that rusty mess. Wonder where they got their valuation price from?

I believe eBay offers free re-listing of unsold/unbid items - maybe she will continue to relist it with a lower opening bid, till it sells.

It's been many years since I've sold on eBay, but as I recall relisting was occasionally offered for free, or nearly free, and listing auctions with a reserve were more expensive than ones where the opening bid was the reserve...

That being said, I looked at her profile to see if it was relisted and saw a crappily listed Nintendo, at well above value - so maybe she has no concept of the actual worth of things?

I believe the car is originally a 4 speed car. She said she had another transmission for it. Car is beyond rusty. She sent me more pics, but doesn't have a clue on taking good photos of the rusty areas. No pick of the motor. Left quarter is rusted thru where the spoiler cap goes. Car is a mess! I think it's a 5-7k car with the formula parts car. What a shame!
