Default Had to put Max down today

My wife's German Sheppard developed canine degenerative myelopathy rather quickly, over the last couple months. He could not walk well because he lost control of his rear legs, and he could barely get in and out of his crate as of late. Max was only nine years old, and was a great dog.

For his last day, my wife fed him four hotdogs, his favorite treat, and then took him swimming in the pool because he loved to swim and he could still swim well even with his goofy back legs. The vet came to the house around 1100, and was very gentile and caring while putting Max down. I was at work, but my wife said he went very peacefully. My son said he smiled as he drifted into his final nap.

My last picture of Max from 6-16-2017. He looks normal, but could not walk normal, he was just hanging out watching me clean fish. I'm going to miss that dog.

Very sorry for your loss.

We had to put my cat Zander down Saturday. Had her 16 years. Very tough to do, but you don't want them to suffer.

Sorry for your loss...

My dog, Rusty, is part of the family and brings joy to each and every one of us. Can't even imagine what it would be like without him.

I really do understand how you feel. Hang in there...

Frank.

I am very sorry for your loss. We had to put our previous Shepherd down for the same reason a little over 4 years ago. She was 3 weeks shy of her 15th birthday. The vet came to the house and put her to rest in her favoite spot where she slept on the bathroom floor. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do.

My deepest condolences.condolences. I've had to do this five times; it's never an easy decision but you did what was best for Max.

Very sorry to hear about Max, nice of the vet to come to make a house call for it.

Go out & get another - plenty of dogs waiting for good families to rescue them.

I love all dogs, but just saw the movie 'Meagan Leavy' last night and have a new respect/love for German Shepherds.

The good times/memories will outlast the sadness that you are feeling now, so hang in there, it will get better.

I am very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss! Dogs are great and they easily and quickly wiggle their way deep into our lives and change us forever. They are the greatest friends we can have. Mourn, and let Max go.
