Default Solar Eclipse who's going?

Anyone planning on seeing the total eclipse? Probably once in a lifetime......

If you miss it there will be another in April, 2024. I won't get the full eclipse here but should be able to see a partial one, weather permitting.

I'm looking forward to it as its convenient that I live in the path of totality, I won't have to travel.

The local news and officials are warning of backed up traffic and congestion. Even going so far as to say our citys population might double with guests.

My son and I may fly to Marshall Mo. from Cedar Rapids, Ia. Back here near Chicago they say it will be about 87%.

My Daughter is at SIU in Carbondale, Ill. Directly the middle of the path. NASA is setting up an observatory there for photographs, research etc. Its certainly a BIG DEAL there. They are delaying the start of school 1 day for it.

I'm close to the path here in NC, so I'll see a pretty good show., just not the best.

No traveling for me, in the path of it here in St. Louis. I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep the kids out of school so they can look at it through the welding masks.

Casper, Wyoming is right in the path. I'll see it if the sky is clear and I get back from New Mexico in time. Traffic is the question crossing Colorado.

I've seen two solar eclipses in my lifetime. Once in the mid/late '80s and once in the '90s I believe. Not sure if either was total but I remember they were both big deals. Did the pinhole in the paper thing.

We're going to make a day trip. Rexburg, Idaho is about an hour and a half away. We're going to leave early and just find a place to hang out like a park or something until the eclipse. Then we're going to eat lunch and spend the rest of the day stuck in traffic lol (they're predicting half a million people heading to Idaho from Utah that day). I have a welding helmet, and we bought a bunch of cheap eclipse glasses for the kids.

I'll walk outside, we're basically in the middle of the path.

I live in Maryland and I am heading out to Oregon on the coast to visit friends and see the elipse.

The main path is 150 miles west of me, so I'll see enough in the backyard.

In my area of Maryland, we'll be in the 80% range. For me, it's hard to justify traveling to go from 80% to 100%. However, you'd be amazed at how many co-workers at Goddard Space Flight Center are taking vacations that week, and traveling into 100% areas.

Pretty much the same here ~75% - we'll get more than I had expected. Only 7 years until we get one that's over 90%....I can wait.
