Pontiac V8 technical drawings?
Since Im currently unemployed and looking to keep my skills sharp, does anybody have any kind of drawings or dimensional data for the Pontiac V-8s?
Im wanting to make a 3D solid model. I know Pro-Engineer and Creo, but Im trying to learn Solidworks Any help is very appreciated

IIRC Former Pontiac Engineer Mac McKellar et al had dimensional engine blue prints back in the day.
...and IIRC HO Racing had a Pontiac Engine Blueprint on their catalog Front Cover that could be used to scale...was also in old Year One catalogs? one two three |

Hey Alvin, were those links to specific pictures or just to bing image searches?

H-O Racing used to have (I believe) a SD 421 head print hanging in their shop. Maybe it's still around.

I started digitizing everything into Autocad. Its a long process but i will have everything to exact scale.

X's 2
also; I've always wanted a Pontiac version of the "Visible V-8" and also a static 1:1 model - sure would be lighter and easier to use than cast iron... |

Been doing some layout work myself in Pro-E. Would be great to share. I think I have honed in on bore centers with respect to all head bolts and dowels in the block/head deck.

Thats awesome.
so far I just have the basic block down from the TD61 picture Alvin posted using the scale from the bore/valves. Its interesting how different building stuff in Solidworks is than ProE

A quick search on Grabcad for "pontiac" yields a 3-d model for a LS-3 block, a 15x7 Honeycomb rim, a EcoTech engine, valve covers, and a master cylinder for a 64 Tempest. No traditional PMD blocks on there at this time.

yea thats usually the first place I check, they usually have pretty good models, sometimes the models dont want to open on ProE

When I get the chance to jump back into it I'm pretty sure there's a format conversion to convert from ACAD to solidworks or pro e.
After I get all the views done in AUTOCAD I can print it out with the dimensions and do a QC check to make sure it's 100% accurate. |
