Default Bench Seat Option 1st Gen Firebirds

Bench Seat Option 1st Gen Firebirds - anyone have any photos of one?

IIRC - have seen a few Camaro 1st gens with front bench seat and possibly a Firebird Sprint convertible w one. Do you have one and/photos of one w a bench seat?

Would loved to have one of those in my 1st FB.
Girls didnt like the buckets w/a console.
Especially at the drive in.
Kept a regulator bed pillow in the back seat. And sleep'n bag for cooler nites

One of the PY members owns a VooDoo Green 68 RamAir II Bird with Black Bench Seat interior and a 4spd - as built.

Should be some good pics of it on here.
Maybe "bench seat" or "strato bench" search in this section will find some of them.

Do they use the same shifter for bench as they use for buckets?

2nd and 4th might be more likely to hit the seat than Reverse.
unless i'm just not thinking enough about it.

Main thing is to be sure you have the right shifter handle.
Cammer is pretty dialed into early birds.
Another PY member named Pete Serio - is a big time shifter guru.
You could do a member search, and send him a Pvt Msg ,
for a second opinion / confirmation.

The shifter handles (chrome stick) have 4 digit ID number on them most times.

The Ram2 Bird i mentioned , was not "Chris / The Boss" car.
No doubt he wishes he had 1 or 3 , like all of us wish we did.

Just can't remember his name right now.
screen name had Ram2 in it
Ram2bird , ramair2 , or sumpn
He was in the 68 Ram2 thread where we documented the cars by pricing.
We did his car too.

Thanks BVZ
This is what it looked like back in the early 80's, I have new deluxe parchment covers for it now. Having a hard time getting rid of the tilt wheel, column shift with the cruise,

i wouldn't want to lose those things either Jet.

you "could" remove the column shift handle - then grind down the nubs - and fill in / modify the opening thats left behind. as an option

Cruise is ultra rare on early birds
Guys are updating those older systems for clutch cars , with another kill switch on the clutch pedal , like the brake pedal uses.

I'm missing a lot of the cruise parts ie. the parts on the intake, all I have left is the part on the inner fender and the speedo cables, wiring harness, gave up looking for the rest, but altering the column would keep the tilt option, I had planned on using the second gen column, a buddy of mine did that and you can't tell the diff

Are you thinking Chris Philips? He had that '68 400HO 4-spd bench seat car. Turqoise with white painted top. I think he sold it back around 2000. I remember it for sale in AZ back in 2001 and then lost track of it. I wonder where it went. That was a cool car.
