I fired my 69 GTO up for the first time since May this past weekend. All went well except this electrical problem it's developed by just sitting!! Here's what's it's doing....
As soon as I connect the battery, the left turn signal starts going, clicking on and off. The keys are not in the ingition, and the signal lever is not in the left position. The car is off. I pulled out the signal relay from the fuse box inside the car. It was red hot!! But when I pulled it out, the turn signal stopped blinking. All was good except for the fact now I don't have any turn signals or brake lights. I went and bought a new relay, put it in, the turn signal started blinking again. So any idea what's going on here? Please email amy responses you may have to me directly as well as posting them here. My email is djagh@digital.net. Thanks for helping!! Andy |

Your problem lies with the hazard lights. The flasher you replaced is for the hazard lights only. Try pushing the hazard switch in and out a few times. This may cause the problem to correct itself. If not you may have to replace the hazard/turn signal switch in the steering column.
The other thing you might look for, is to see if any little critters were making a snack of the wiring around the steering column connector while the car was sitting. ------------------ "Run wild with an Indian, not with the crowd in a Chevy" "Have you driven your Pontiac over the Taliban lately?"
