I was always under the impression that ALL 68 GTOs came with hideaway headlights.
Recently I have seen some 68's for sale without hideaway lights, but with the GTO emblems in the dash. I know that there are also a lot of "home made" GTOs around. Were there actually some 68 GTOs made with regular, exposed headlights? Just wondering. |

Yes the hideaways were a option along with the endura nose you could buy one with a chrome nose and no hideaways or with the Endura nose with or with out hideaways

Thanks!
I see that there is a 68 convertible on Ebay right now. It has the chrome bumper and exposed headlights. |

i have an original chrome nose. it is the same as the lemans except for the gto nameplate on the grill. the endura nose was standard and chrome an option only in 68. the non hideaway grills are the same as the hideaway with the endura nose. the only way to know a fraud is the serial number and phs documentation. i bought my car pretty cheap due to the fact the guy told everybody it had the chrome bumper and nobody would go look at it. it was sitting for 4 years in his driveway under a car cover.
