Is it possible to remove the textured coating from these moldings? Thinking of getting rid of my top and go to painted. Would i need to find new moldings?

Are you planning to go with a 2 tone paint? Or just a smooth top single color? If you are going to stay with 1 color and just remove the vinyl top you don't need the trim just remove the fasteners and fill the holes.
I suspect you will have to do alot of filling and sanding to the metal under the vinyl anyway. If the trim pieces are metal I would think you could strip off the coating. I have not owned a mid 70's car with a vinyl top in over 25 years so I do not remember if the trim pieces are metal, plastic, or a combination of both.
